-- Why the near universal hatred for deadmau5?
Pages (6): « 1 2 [3] 4 5 6 »
It's easy to claim that hatred comes from popularity but in this case it's said already. Rceently he has basically made 2 tracks over and over again with huge pace, made Essential Mix with nothing but his own tracks and has made remixes for Caf Del Mar and Finished Symphony which were really really unnecessary.
I don't really care much about this guy but he should have left Finished Symphony alone.
To be honest, Deadmau5 does make a lot of different sounding tracks in different styles (Faxing Berlin <> Duo Cad Sordid <> Complications), it's just that nobody makes a big deal about it on here.
Not that I'm some big mau5 fanboi or something.

if mau5's tracks weren't as popular, all this criticism would pretty much be non existent. Obviously, what makes the "hater" individuals hate him so much is not the fact that his music recycles certain elements. And it's not the fact that deadmau5 is so popular. Instead, it's those two factors combined that make the haterade recipe so effective - the fact that this recycled music actually manages to attract thousands of fans & dollars. This is what they don't understand, or rather they understand it but it definitely makes them boil a little.
The whole argument that he is polluting the EDM scene with crap music has no basis at all. There are hundreds of thousands of EDM artists in this world, one guy producing music how he wants doesn't ruin the scene - at all, in no way. When most of you say you're not jealous, but rather feel disappointed that mau5 is "wasting his talent" - come on, you expect us to believe that? lol. Since when are you so concenred what some young kid is doing with his talented potential? Like i said, there are many many talented artists in this scene - it really doesn't matter what one of them chooses to do in the studio.
So who'll be the first to say "omg i cannot BELIEVE he's playing the jealousy card again!"
DEADMAU5 IS THE NEW SEAN TYAS! - END OF STORY

Originally posted by StanVoid well i know about that, but he had his reasons. Schossow was effectively mocking him with the rat6 productions. may have been an overreaction, but it's still reasonable.

Originally posted by StanVoid again - we don't know everything that happened. we just know about the rat6 tracks and assume that's the whole reason, but there may have been words exchanged aside from that that you're not aware of.
Didn't he refuse to play at the same event as someone else (that may be the link lol i didnt click it)
cos imo, like someone or not, when a promoter books you, you turn up, give 100% to the people etc

Originally posted by TranceArmstrong i personally am tired of him because he is not that good - he has gotten hugely popular making music that many here feel is just simple, tired, and samey. I really like faxing berlin and jaded but as time went on I saw that for the most part his songs consist of either retreads of faxing berlin or generic farty house which I already detested long before I knew the name deadmau5. (besides the Harder Better Faster Stronger Remix - thats still a fun track imo) And then when he gets an essential mix he uses all his own tracks? not cool. Some of the angst in that thread was I think more a general disdain for how far the essential mix has fallen though, not just hating on the mau5. Sorry, but when Deadmau5 and Steve Aoki get an EM, it is no longer the 'Legendary' Essential mix. as far as the hatred here on TA, i feel some are a little over the top by insulting him personally, but the fact remains that he is a one or two trick pony (very prolific, very good marketing, hardworking, etc) who makes for the most part pretty blah dance music, and people just rip on him because the music really is not worth the hype. No offense, and there's stuff Deadmau5 has made in the past that I like, but for the most part I'm just tired of it. But like all fads there are stupid people who will go nuts for it, and more power to him making the music he likes and getting gigs and making $$. But here on TA we do not take kindly to sellouts, and that's why the hatred.

I don't care about the artist, it's nothing more than a decent hint during a certain state of producing to find music similar to tracks I already have and enjoy.
It's the track that counts, not the artist imho.
