That's all well and good, but when it comes to the veracity of historical evidence, the anthropological transmission of culture is exceedingly irrelevant as the crux of the very topic at hand has everything to do with documentation and nothing to do with anecdote.

alright you fucking win. My bad for going off on a generalization to say "culture" when i should have stuck with "documentation" instead of address the general category to which is belongs.

quote:

Thousands of people? What people? Old people tend to tell stories and make shit up, it's just a part of getting old.

Yes and all audio and video footage of the holocaust must also be made up shit. It's just a part of aged footage...it just changes over time to distort the truth just like old people. In fact I took a video of me finding a cure to cancer last night but when I watched it this morning it was just me masturbating. Damn video!

quote:
Tell you what, if you can find some actual historical documentation of events indicating there was some sort of mass murder of people of Jewish descent in the 1930s and 40s by a political party clearly aimed by economic idealism that is verifiable by recurrent evidence remiss of cultural interference, I might just believe you.

Video footage taken by the Nazis themselves. And millions of human bones...meanwhile millions of humans missing. hmmmmmmmmm.

quote:

I mean, really, why would this Hitler guy go through so much trouble? Where's the motive?

lol...yes how do we know a mass murderer existed if we don't know his motive to justify his murders? Until we have a motive, all of his murders are hereby void.

They didn't even have the technology to record audio and video back then, much less in the 3rd-world country that was post-WWI Germany.

The only scientific conclusion is that your masturbating cures cancer. I suspect eye or butt cancer. Additional tests are required.

Uhhh, that's because millions of human beings have died in Germany. I's just a fact of life. I don't drive by a graveyard and suspect that everyone with a headstone there was murdered by a dictator, do I? No, I don't.

Now you're getting it.

This may be the most idiotic thing I've read.

quote:
Honestly I don't know, and I won't state something as truth that I didn't see and substantiate as actual myself.

What you're really stating here is that you do not have the ability to critically evaluate evidence and form a conclusion therefrom.

quote:
Same goes for the birth and death of Jesus, or Mohammad, Buddah, or JFK. While I can't denie these as social facts for much of the world population - I myself cannot state them as Truth, because I didn't witness these people myself, I've only heard second source and beyond information about them.

I can accept that there are legitimate questions regarding Jesus and the Buddah but Mohammad and JFK... you're nuts, their births, lives, and deaths are well documented and we know exactly where both are buried. At some point you have to accept evidence that is beyond your individual experience or direct observation otherwise you remain as an infant; believing there is no existence beyond yourself.

Anyone who doesn't have primary source evidence eg. experiencing or seeing something themself has the right not to beleive.

quote:
The allies wern't exactly "angels" during the war, and they wern't exactly "jew lovers" since they so said let it happen, and anti semitism was rampant with the allies also.

While this is true there is a difference between actively seeking to exterminate people and delaying the rescue of said people until it you have sufficient resources and strategical advantage to increase the probability that the operation would be successful and not divert resources critical to the larger war effort.

quote:
Honestly though I understand what happened, and it wasn't just jews. It was all enemies of state.

Indeed, and it was a terrible thing for all the groups involved.

quote:
Canada and the US had camps also.

That may be the worst bit of moral relativism I've heard. Sure, Canada and the US had camps where Japanese persons were interred during the war... partly for national security, partly for their own security, but mostly due to irrational fear. There is one hell of a difference; however, between holding people in a secure facility and killing people on an industrial scale.

And even then you could be hallucinating.

But you are making an academic point. When you come down to it, there is something called "weighing evidence." You look at an idea and see what evidence it has in its favor, and what evidence it has against it. Then you adjust your beliefs accordingly. Treating skepticism as a license to believe anything is inane and sophomoric.

I am serious from time to time, I just very rarely see it necessary to let you all know - if my point is worth taking seriously, then I shouldn't need to explain that much to you.

And really, people who deny the holocaust occurred are hardly worth taking seriously, so I treat it as such; the same goes for a great deal of topics here.

I'm pretty sure that, whether originally intended or not, the shenanigans that have ensued in this thread are in fact mocking the PDD from afar.

Probably. And I hate the PDD anyways. It is just a bunch of wankers for the most part being exuberantly inane for the sake of arguing. I don't like that.

It's like those activists you get at uni. Someone should really tell them that no matter how hard they try, most of them will never really get into politics. The closest most of them will ever get is to be a hippie and/or human rights activist working for Greenpeace.
