happy turkey day

Posted by Slylee on Nov-27-2008 20:10:

we're doing thanksgiving tomorrow. my man had to work a little this morning and i don't have family down here any more so it's kinda just a blah day. we bought stuff for a turkey dinner but forgot a few key ingredients and everything is pretty much closed at this point so we decided to go all out tomorrow for the thanksgiving dinner. tonight it's just pork chops on the grill with some sides and watching movies, smoking pot, etc...

this year i'm actually gonna go try to hit up my favorite mall on the friday after thanksgiving i'm scared. lol never done it before, and i know it's gonna be crazy but i think if i go into it with a carefree attitude, things will be fine. i'm not gonna get all stressed out or annoyed...just gonna mosey around and eat some goodies (godiva store at this mall...mmmMMM!) and buy some stuff if it's not too inconvenient.

oh and moral it's more about the peacemaking between the settlers & native americans. not just a "meal". it signifies peace and love and family time and giving thanks...i think it's nice that it's such a big deal over here. gives us americans a chance to stop and smell the fucking roses and appreciate what we have.

i love how they made peace with the natives by exterminating them and forcing the ones that they did not kill to live in remote areas without running water.

lol myra

jay you dont have to tell me. i'm an 8th native american (seminole) and my man is native american too...but like, the canadian kind lol the american NAs were so horribly treated. my dad is really into his NA heritage. he has art work from the native seminoles and books about them and stuff like that. his grandma was the one who was native and her name was Juanita. i have a great grandma named Juanita lol

Posted by elFreak on Nov-27-2008 20:23:

the canadian ones were raped too, albeit not as hard.

i get confused as an indian often, so on alternate tuesdays i like to call myself chief killallthewhiteman from the kashtin tribe.

when my gf wants to piss me off she tells me i look like the guy on the right.

Posted by elFreak on Nov-27-2008 20:28:

slylee, ask your bf if he knows who kashtin is. he should laugh.

Posted by Slylee on Nov-27-2008 20:40:

The same natives that the US spent the next hundred and fifty years trying to kill off?

I do get that; however, given the choice between flying cross country for thanksgiving and doing the same for Christmas, I'd pick Christmas. I guess it's because we don't have this big lore and build up over thanksgiving here.
