Seriously now,
I was with two other friends of mine, and we all wanted to cross the Brasilia's widest avenue. Everything that could've gone wrong did go wrong that night, so we thought we had already run out of bad luck.
We went to the zebra crossing near an intersection and waited for the green light. But, my friends (two girls) were impatient, because even though the light was red for pedestrians, there was no car in sight. "Meh, it's almost midnight", one of my friends said, "and it seems the avenue is desert anyway. Let's just cross". Convinced by her strong arguments, we started crossing the avenue. As we stepped on the second lane, a tsunami of cars came out of a hidden part of the intersection and, when I saw that, I yelled and ran as fast as I could. Looking left, I even saw this one guy aiming at me and trying to hit me with his car, but I managed to reach the pavement/sidewalk a split second before the car caught me. After I realised what had just happened, I let out a sigh and the obvious struck me...
... my friends were wearing high heels!
I turned around and I saw them, hugging one another, crying in the middle of the avenue, on top of a lane strip. The automotive tsunami was soon gone, and they managed get to the other side of the road afterwards.
That night rocked!

Slipped down a cliff when bush walking and slid on my ass for a while because the weight of my pack was pulling me down. I thought "yeah np, I'll just wait till I stop/hit a tree or something" until I remembered I was going towards a 30M drop down to some very nasty, stereotypical waters-edge rocks.
Managed to flip over and grab the edge of the cliff right at the end. I was hanging over it, feet and pack dangling down because it was a lip and not a straight edge. My boots were wet so I couldn't get any grip on the face and all I was holding myself up with was my arms so I couldn't get my pack off.
After stopping freaking the fuck out for a minute I realised I could try to claw my way back up, because there were a fair few handholds in the ground in front. Still couldn't get the pack off so I had to ninja back up a fucking cliff face with a full pack until I got to a tree.
Didn't trust the shit out of that so I stayed low and went tree for tree until I got up. Tried to explain the almost dying-ness to my mates and they laughed and said I owed them because I held them up in the rain.
Once I was on a bus in Jersey City, and I fell asleep. I opened my eyes sensing something wierd and this guy was 8 inches away from my face with a knife half-inch away from my chin. He smiled and said he was sorry, he just wanted to give me a shave, and walked away to the back of the bus... I never sleep on busses anymore...

Was out surfing with my friend in Lima, we padded out pas the breakers, which were about 1.5m when we got out, and then it started to go crazy, 3m waves breaking all at the same time, no chance to ride them at all- They came one after another and they moved us about 1.5K northwest- was crazy... took us like 45 mins of just swimming under waves, trying not to drown before we were finally close enough to catch a couple of the late breaks and move closer to the shore...
We were shaking so much after that, holy crap-
There's been other times too, thats the most vivid
i can still remember swimming under those waves and searching for the surface

i have two uncles that were pro wind surfers and both have lives on boats (yacht captain and the other one lives on a sailboat) and i generally grew up snorkeling and going on boats and swimming with them as a kid and i've seen my share of sharks while snorkeling and it's pretty fucking scary.
i had about an 8 ft bull shark swim right under one time in the bahamas when i was like 11. i was with my uncle who had a spear gun though and the shark swam away as soon as it saw us. it wasn't as traumatizing as one would think but for a split second you definitely hold your breath like "oh fuck". but my uncle had to fight a shark off one time cuz it went after a fish he had just speared.

| Originally posted by SuspicionVandit Well to go into depth, I'd been in/out of psychiatric care since I was 16. When I turned 18, I started hearing friendly voices and having weird dreams about a little girl. Then I started seeing the girl when I was awake(although mostly out of the corner out of my eye or in brief glimpses). It started driving me a bit nuts, maybe insane. The voices became more aggressive with instructions and scolding words. I still had my doctor who recommended me I be admitted to a serious ward (not just one of them dinky ones where you draw pictures and sing songs). I skipped a few visits from him, skipped work, stopped eating, stopped sleeping and was eventually admitted in handcuffs. Maybe I wasn't in the right reality, but through my perception, I thought it was over. I feel all better now. But 2 years ago I was robbed a couple of wankers, and when I filed the police report, they asked me if I was "really robbed" since I had a "history of schizophrenia". |

about 4 years ago was waiting for my mum by bus stop in town, was leaning against it and got a phone call, so moved away and sat near by on a wall, few mins later car comes careering around the corner, hits the but stop head on, must have gone good 3ft through the car, if i hadn't had moved, either no legs or i wouldnt be typing this, scares me to fuck everytime i think about it

i love the ocean but scary bitches like these ruin everything
I was driving back from snowshoeing at Rattlesnake point with my g/f at the time. As you come to the road that snakes down the escarpment, there is a 90 degree turn at the crest of the ridge...followed by a 200' drop.
I was driving carefully, given the snowy conditions, doing maybe 50 in a 60 zone. During the day it was warm and sunny, followed by a cold snap at dusk. I guess the snow had melted and flash frozen because when I applied my brakes about 100' from the turn nothing happened. I felt the ABS try to get a grip and watched the guardrail getting closer and closer. It wasn't so much a guardrail as a collection of wooden stakes, I would have gone right through them.
So, the cliff is getting closer and closer, I'm still doing 50 - only sliding. Once within 50-80' of the edge, I tried to steer into a skid...nothing happened. With my wheels hard over, one tyre finally caught a grip and I started a slow rotation clockwise. The car is now sliding sideways towards the cliff and it entered my mind to just bail out of the car, but there would have been no time to get the g/f moving out as well. Luckily, there was a bare patch of road right at the top of the hill and when I slid onto it I started to slow down, finally hitting the posts with my driver's side rear-quarter panel - just hard enough to dent it.
Had I not slid sideways and hit the bare patch, I'm convinced I would have been riding a 2000lb toboggan down the side of the cliff.
My g/f and I sat there, stunned for a few seconds before regaining composure and driving home...carefully.

I was getting road head this weekend while on I-10 back to Phoenix from Tucson.
Was in a mustang doing 100 and I couldn't concentrate so I went off the road on the left side and I was like oh fuck, I can't save this. But it was easier than I expected and it was all good.
First time getting road head though, and it wasn't all that great.
Went white water rafting and fell overboard into the water during rough white-water area. Basically held onto the raft for dear life while trying to avoid incoming rocks until I was able to latch myself onto a rock and get myself out of the river to safety.
