Hey Oscar, Nice selection of tunes and really nice presentation. I love that artwork. Honestly haven't got anything else to tell you that you probably don't already know in regards to constructive criticisms. Your mixing is tight, especially for using a mouse/keyboard.
I get this same complaint with some of my mixes in that the cueing and mixing of tracks could be done a bit earlier, but its really not a major flaw or anything, there's no trainwrecks and that's the main thing really imo.
When you get a midi controller you'll find mixing is so much easier and a hell of a lot more fun.

is it mixed on ableton or some other soft ?

Thanks for the listen, and for the comments. Yeah, to each its own I guess...although I'm trying to learn from other people as much as possible and be able to tell what works better when. Hopefully I'll get my controller before xmas!

I mixed it with Traktor 3 on my laptop.

Posted by denys envy on Dec-13-2008 18:21:

if you're gonna use traktor gotta get an outside midi mixer. there's no way your can fuck with it proper with a mouse and all that.

i guess you know what you want for christmas...

Posted by woscar on Dec-14-2008 01:15:

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm getting this year...been looking into the Numark Total Control. I know that the Vestax VCI-100 is better built but it's still too damn pricey. Can't wait to get my hands on this baby!

Nice mix, i enjoyed it very much. I agree with others here that you have gotten further with your programming and mixing if we compare this to the Tones mix.

Regarding your track selection, almost all your tunes are very melodic and "strong". It could be an idea to put in a few more anonymous and underground techier tracks to enhance the buildup and to avoid getting tired of the same sound.

All in all, this is good. Keep on truckin'!

Thanks for the suggestion Denys, Luchttoorn is indeed ace! I've been listening to a lot of their music but I don't know how the hell did I miss this one!

Finally got around to listening to this. I definitely enjoyed it. Sounded like the kind of stuff I like hearing in bigger venues, kept me rocking for sure. The mixing was quite smooth as well, and helped keep the energy flowing.

Good stuff sir!

Thanks for the listen and the kind words man! I'm glad you enjoyed it that much

Giving this a last bump before I get to work on my next mix. Just got myself a midi controller a few weeks ago and can't wait to record something with it.

Better technically this time, though i know you're working with traktor.

Tunes were good, but didnt think that one with vocals about intruding frequency didnt quite fit. Groovy tune. Didnt like where you put it.

Good to see improvement though

Jester

Nice set! Had no time for an in-depth listening and review yet, but liked it; for a first impression, I rate it 7/10

Keep it up!

Awesome work. Really an inspiring mix. Seriously imo one of the best mixes i've heard lately

In all fairness, all that Traktor does for me is automatic beatmatching.

Actually beatmatching is one of those things I like about djing, I was messing around on ableton but after a while I was getting bored. Dont get me wrong I know some people can do amazing stuff with it like multilayering and all this shit but with my kind of house its not that simple and too much looping and effects starting too sound bad.
Anyway just wanted to encourage you to get some decks, cdjs, mixer and try it this way, its a lot more fun imo. (a lot of djs that went full ableton or traktor are only mixing two tracks and thats it. This way of using software its simply called lazyness)

Take care

Yeah, I know what you mean The only reason I'm not getting decks yet is money. Those CDJ-1000s look pretty fucking sweet but are expensive as fuck. It is something I want to get in the future though.

You dont have to buy CDJ-1000s I'm working on 800s mkII. These are classy and pleasure to mix on, you can get a pair at a price of one CDJ-1000

But thats a discussion for dj booth I don"t wanna hijack your mix topic

Take care.

Fantastically put together set and a few very strong tunes. I felt overall though that most of the tunes were quiet commercial sounding and lacking impact as a result.

HOW DID I MISS THIS?!?!?!?!? downloading!!!
