The Anchor Steam Christmas Ale is also quite good.

I'm going to have to give Great Lakes another shot. I remember trying the "Burning River" a while back and it reminded me of garbage water. Everyone I talk to seems to like it though. Besides, I'm from Ohio so I should hope for something good to come from this state.

Alexander Keith was born here I found out recently, which is pretty random. I was born in the same place (basically) which has about... 200-300 people in it.

This is good:

As is this oak aged beer (very good, but nearly toffee flavour mmmmmmmmmm):

Wheat beers can be very refreshing too.

Yah, it's a bit too sweet, so it's tough to have a lot. The local store here sells plastic 1.5L bottles of it... will destroy you.
Number 6 is good and the wheat #8 is tasty.

My favorites are:

The 21% ABV beer

Kind of sweet and thick like Baltika 9

Engine oil

Tasty engine oil

Flemish ales are lambics for men

And, of course, the Belgians - Ommegang's Witte, Hennepin, THREE PHILOSOPHERS; Allagash's White, Dubbel, Trippel; Unibroue's La Fin Du Mond, Maudite, Trois Pistoles.
Also a fan of Dekoninck, but haven't been able to find it in the past year or so.

Aventinus is pretty good, although on the weaker side. Left Hand Milk Stout, local beer - Berkshire Brewing Company's Lost Sailor IPA and Steel Rail Ale are favorites.

I drank Miller yesterday, shit tastes like garbage.

Posted by Adam420 on Jan-01-2009 18:26:

I hate Duchesse de Bourgogne!

This, on the other hand, is probably the best I've had:

Smoked Beer

A friend of mine said it was liquid smoke and the best thing you could ever taste. I thought it was OK, kind of like drinking liquid fire logs. Another friend of mine hated it with a passion.
Original beer though!

lao beer is not so bad.

Arrogant Bastard is the nastiest shit EVER.

Tsingtao??

Posted by MelonBoy on Jan-02-2009 20:00:

Voll-Damm all the way. 7,2% "only" but what a great strong & tasty beer it is.

Posted by fbgdavidson on Jan-02-2009 20:44:

Mmmmm beer. We have a place near us that has 56 beers on draft and about 300 different bottled beers. We'll often sit next to some morons that will order a Miller Lite, Budweisier or Coors. I'll want to punch them in the (man) tits.

Dogfish Head beers are superb and my favourite 'microbrew'! We'll sometimes drive 110 miles and stay overnight in Northern Virginia solely so that we can visit one of the DFH Alehouses there so we get it on draft!

My wife and I are working our way through their Craft Brewed Selection too...the only one we didn't like was Fort. Ugh.
