It is a fucking joke! Cops get enough free coffee at Tim Hortons! But maybe this will be a way for CZ to be on a better playing field and avoid drug busts lol

R u serious????

So the cops are gonna raid...

They're all ready to go and organized....

"GO GO GO!!!"

They go though the door and down the steps, look to the left, and stop...

"Hey...theres a sign...lets read it..."

read read read...

"Hey guys...looks like we can cancel the raid...these guys are ok now according to this letter..."

This is better for business than maybe if the owner (who is it these days anyway??? Still Dave???) sits down with the police dept and they have a proper meeting???

It demonstrates a willingness to cooperate with the police and shows that there trying to run a business.

And if you read the letter, IT DOES suggest a meeting!!!!

Right...

So you're saying that the best way to request a meeting with the police is to post a request on a please dont raid us letter on the wall of the establishment..

And you say this is good business???

They can't call the dept on the phone???

Even though I do not frequent the zone very often, as mentioned previously, I did notice some changes in the place. (More Security, less visible activities, cleaner washrooms).

Cam, I agree with you on your previous points. Having the sign does show that they are making the effort. When I spoke with one of the workers there, she was pleased that I had mentioned the changes that I have noticed. She stated that they are trying hard to work to get things straightened up there.

I think you made your valid point which make complete sense; you are being baited into an argument just for the sake of it because thats what some people like to do. Just walk away and ignore it.

New Years Day went down well, thats what this thread is really about.

The real point of the letter rests in law. The letter serves as an open invitation to the police or other government officials to engage the management in dialog regarding any areas they have concern with. If the tavern is then issued citations for violations without having previously received warning from the authorities this open invitation allows the tavern to claim they have done their due diligence in addressing concerns by inviting a meeting with concerned parties, which said parties failed to accept; therefore, the citation should be thrown out and a warning issued in it's place. Essentially, the point of the letter is to increase the probability that they will be given warnings for violations prior to actual citations/fines.

I find the letter pretty comical, and I think that's half of its intent.

Guess I should write something, eh?

Only ventured out to zone twice in 2008, the latter being one of my favourite times there. Needless to say I knew ringing in New Years Day at Comfort Zone made sense. Let's start off this year's novel with it's title: "I Love My Life 2009: Lovin' Life to the 9s!"

Prologue: They say that the way in which you ring in the new year reflects what kind of a year it will turn out to be. So based on Jan 1st what will this imply for me? Two words... rockstar and bananas!

Let's take a look, shall we..

------------------------------------

As others before me mentioned, we all felt safe at the zone, which was great. I, personally, never had much of an issue with this, but it's a nice feeling to have when your back hairs aren't rising because of danger (they should only be rising because of tunes!) I'd like to think I'm invincible.. but really that's not the case. I had a good gut feeling prior to coming out for this, and I'm relieved that nothing happened. No negativity. Good vibes all day (and night); the place was fairly packed when we got there before 9 am, and it emptied out a bit every now and then. Downstairs had an old CZ feeling which rocked considering what people have been saying of it's current standing. Enough room but heat was a factor as always. What'd they do with the giant fan? Both rooms had much to offer, although I preferred the main floor. There were pros and cons to each... I found the music to be better upstairs for the most part, but the vibe was usually lacking. Some great characters as usual... Wang.. the laptop dude... but no sign of Dante, sadly. This was the first time I made a return to zone in one day...3 times. Not sure how I feel about this! lol.

Tunes were fun and ballistic all day long. Not my best zone experience but it's definately up there... Those who came know what I'm talking about! Oh dear.. what a mess. Most of the sets were a bit disappointing: Carlos Fauvrelle delivered but I found him to be too techy. FUMASA tribal was lacking... but he did play a remix of Sun Rising Up that make me shake it. Deko-ze wasn't very consistant, but managed to drop some pretty sick tracks towards the end. Jon Jon made the upstairs room tolerable with his fun happy haus. Loved every minute of it. Lee also kicked ass up there.. blew me away with some of his tracks, but the vibe was dead at the time unfortunately. Would of been a real treat to hear him play downstairs. Didn't catch much of Adultnapper sadly... From what I heard he was potentially playing set of the day for me. Great techno jams! Ah well...next time.

Will there be a next time? I'm definately venturing out to zone in the near future. Let's just hope they start bringing in headliners again.
