pennington is kind of old to be playing dontchathink?

Posted by RJT on Jan-04-2009 21:54:

Hell of a return by Jackson just there.

Posted by Renzo on Jan-04-2009 22:32:

You can only hold Adrian Peterson down so long.

Posted by Renzo on Jan-04-2009 22:49:

Asante Samuel.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jan-04-2009 23:46:

The Eagles look very questionable right now. They look like they have this game in the wraps, but also look like 1 interception or 1 long Peterson run away from blowing this game.

I would not want to be the Chargers right now, even though they toughed out a win against the Colts. When I look at AFC bracket, and see the Titans, Ravens, and Steelers there, I would be shitting my pants if I was the Chargers. In terms of defense yards allowed and points allowed, Titans are 7th and 2nd, Ravens are 2nd and 3rd, and the Steelers are 1st and 1st. The reason why the Titans are 7th is because the gap between Washington(4th) and Tennessee(7th) is about 80 yards, and they gave up a whole bunch of yards the last 2 games of the season due to injuries on the defensive side.

Cardinals look like buzzard meat. That's all i have to say.

Westbrook made sure i'm gonna have a good nights sleep. Him and Asante.

Nervewrecking game though. You just never know with McNabb, everytime i watch him play my nails are completely gone after the game.

My picks for next weekend:

Steelers over Chargers
Ravens over Titans [tough call]

Giants over Eagles
Panthers over Cards

I was hoping the eagles lost so the giants would have the cards, a team which the giants handled easily.

I can't remember the last NFL game I watched that went into overtime where the team that won the coin flip didn't win on their first drive. Watched the whole second half to see the chargers win the toss and then pretty much gave up hope. Honestly, what the fuck's the reasoning for it? Sudden death is exciting in games where there aren't formal possessions like soccer, quick steal and momentum swings. But shit, two moderate sized plays, then take a knee towards the middle of the field and kick a field goal on 2nd down, booooooooring and anticlimactic as fuck.

Their rules for qualifying for playoffs are stupid as fuck too. This whole "division" format might work for leagues with much longer seasons as the MLB (166 games) and the NBA (82 games) but in a league where each team plays only 16 games it's just plain moronic. There will always be teams with much better records than another division's "champ" that won't make it.

Take this season for example, as much as I fucking hate the Pats they had a 11-5 record and didn't make it, while the stupid Chargers qualified with a more than mediocre 8-8 record. Hell, the Saints who finished last in their division had that record.

My picks:

Chargers over Steelers (well, us fans can only hope lol)
Ravens over Titans

Eagles over Giants
Panthers over Cards

And you know what, Im starting to get sick of the Colts fans crying about stupid shit, bottom line...your team lost to an 8-8 team on the wild card weekend so go do something more productive with your time like finding a job.

You would think Colts would consider themselves the luckiest assholes on the world to draw an 8-8 team in the first round. Ooops, too bad they choked again.

I really tried watching the games this weekend but after about 5 minutes of boring football I turned on the paint drying channel just so I wouldn't fall asleep.

The dolphins went farther than I could have possibly imagined.

Knocking out the Pats & Jets makes it so worth it.

Although they lost - my second fav team is still going strong.

I love #43 Sproles!!!!
GO
CHARGERS

I am also thankful for the 2 bad penalties on the Colts in OT.

Especially thankful for that facemask.

Yeah the Colts got raped by the officials in OT. I'm starting to like Baltimore's chances to win the superbowl with defense like NY did last year

Pittsburgh will have something to say about that with a defense of their own... some would argue its better.

true, but they barely beat the Ravens a few weeks ago and in the mean time I'm sure Baltimore will be watching tape and looking for revenge

Perhaps you could remove your head from inside your ass long enough to comprehend my post. It has nothing to do with the Colts losing to an 8-8 team. The Colts deserved to lose for playing so fucking bad. It's merely an observation on how stupid the NFL's playoff qualifying scheme is. It rewards mediocre teams with a spot on the playoffs while depriving much better teams just because they are in a more competitive division.

Posted by Renzo on Jan-06-2009 01:55:

But it should be that way. You should reward teams because they won the division. Without divisions, the tie-breaking procedures would be hell.

That's what the point of the wild card is - to reward good teams that didn't win their division.

All I get from this is that the Colts deserved to lose for playing so fucking bad.

If Chargers are mediocre, then what does that say on the part of the Colts, who should of man handled an 8-8 team easily? Except the part of where the Chargers are a team that is extremely under rated by their record, and any fucking moron knows that the Chargers could easily be an 11-5 team if it weren't for a few plays and calls going their way instead (Just like the Eagles who also squeaked in but are a monster team). But that's the nature of the game, but instead of crying to us about it you should go back to your momma's tit where you and the rest of the Colts fans can go back to sucking.

Yep, I'm sure Ed Hochuli didn't receive a Christmas card from the Chargers.

+1

Only a soft coach like Tony Dungey would inherit a seasoned QB in Peyton Manning who is one of the all time best, have him surrounded by hall of fame talent, and go 1 and done in the playoffs 4 of 7 times, often when favored! 2 of the other years, they got killed by the Pats. They had 1 good run and Dungey is just a .500 playoff coach. You think Belichek or Andy Reid would inherit a team like that and have a record like that? LOL!

plus one to this and Rods post.

Chargers lost the first few games over very stupid plays and calls by the steroid mf referee... all under the last min or 2 of the game.

Anyone notice what a douchebag Ed Hochuli was looking like @ the Phins game.

Could his shirt be ANY tighter?

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Jan-06-2009 16:55:

Stop posting over the fact that u only understand the 8-8 part.

If you haven't seen the game or followed the season.. you would not be thinking the division stuff is crap.

Vincent Jackson loves the booze more than Will does.
