Captain Comic

Surprisingly far deeper than your average platformer of the day. My family used to fx dinner and sit and watch my dad play that while we ate

but good god, one I haven't seen mentioned yet that I'd put above most others I can think of:
Whiplash

This was the game that gave me my name, mezzir. This was probably the first game my friends and I would completely ignore our own bodies screaming for merciful sleep and stay up till the sun rose. One of my best friends growing up had two computers in his house, in adjacent rooms, both right next to the door connceting the rooms (so the people sitting at the computers would be facing each other if you removed the wall). It was in the basement and his parents slept on the 2nd floor so yelling was a-ok, and scream our little fucking heads of we did. Mostly at each other.

But yeah, it's a racing game, nothing realistic at all except that cars take damage and after a certain amount would just blow up. We'd really just fuck around with it like people fuck around in GTA these days, just doing whatever we could. One map had this narrow section where it was barely wide enough for a single car, and we'd put on god mode for both players, and one person would immediately head backwards from the start, and the other person would follow the pack in last place, all culminating in one giant fucking traffic jam in the narrows with both of us pushing from either exit. Tbh I dunno what made the game so fun, but holy fuck I wanna go play now.

Also, skyroads

Big +1 for Skyroads and Capt. Comic. Apparently they made a sequel to CC, but I haven't tried it.

Yeh. It was made for windows 95 so it works fully on xp/vista, it's also got a few new features and stuff... thing is at the time everyone allready had the games on dos so it sold like shit at the time. Fortunately inherited a copy from my dad.

There's a torrent of it at demonoid actually.

oh man i need to get that. with wing commander III + all FMV? the last torrent i saw of the kilrathi saga omitted it because WC3 took up 4 cd's- ended up getting the dos version instead, which still ended up being 3.some gigs.
