Anyway the bill in total is a lot less than I expected as I thought I'd have to pay about $100 for a new phone. If I complain about the texts they might say "OK here's your $2 refund for our error, but hey looks like we made a mistake there on your new phone, thanks for bringing that to our attention, (click click click) hmmm now you owes us $100!"

So for now it's "let sleeping dogs lie" hehehe

hehe I see what you mean makes sense to be hush-hush about it!
what I like about Fido is that they credit your account immediately, no bs like with Rogers, where they credit the next month only

well DUH about owning, and no, Rogers refuses to credit right away I've dealt with Rogers enough since our services were entirely Rogers at my old place - they would only make the next month's bill smaller, not the amount due in this month

3 -4/month

Okay, I have a related question:

For those who answered over 100 (i.e. almost all of you), how many separate threads/conversations would you say that number represents?

Edit: And with how many different people?

Although I recognize the convenience of an SMS I never had an SMS conversation. I use my phone to talk.

That being said, I probably avg ~5-7 sent/received

I have a plan with 15,000 sent / month.

You getting charged for those US/International Sent and Recieved? I'm getting royally raped for sending txts to US #'s and then even more for ones I send while in the states because while i'm in the states (Detroit) for various things, clubbing, shopping, friends etc... so while there, any incoming txts or any that I send to either friends in the US or Canada i'm geting charged... International i'm not to concerned with, they are too far and between to be worried about since it's only a couple each month with family and cousins.

I'm still on that $20 plan with 2,500 sent and unlimited incoming, but don't think it includes US/INT...

As for which txts are actual conversations, most txts usually end up being 4-5 txt convos, some in the 20-30 txt convos. Hell actually, right now I am in a 170+ TXT conversation, which is probably not end till it get's into the 200's for fucks sake lol...

Yes, $0.25/international/US sent. Incoming is free.

While traveling, international/US sent is $0.60/txt. Incoming is still free though.

I thought when you were International/US it was based on the amount of characters. None of my are a standard fee. They all very depending on size...

I currently have 28 open conversations moving that keep going on an almost daily basis, though the majority of txting is reserved for roughly 5-7 people primarily.

Why would you use that link instead of http://websms.rogers.page.ca/2way ? Are they keeping a copy of the text for themselves? (lol)

i'm sure those Facebook msg notifications via. SMS help bump up that number .. tho i see this overall average declining over time as data becomes more accessible to lower-end users

this one you have to register for, no biggie but the link I posted you can just send away. The one you posted allows you to be tracked

Posted by Spin Laden on Jan-13-2009 13:13:

I do see the benefit though.. recipients can text you back directly otherwise their reply text just gets lost. I've conditioned a few ppl to see the distinction between reg texts and pc texts in any case.

Did anyone hear about the girl in the States???

Greg Hardesty didn't LOL when he got his teen daughter's cellphone statement.

All he could think was "OMG!"

The California man's 13-year-old daughter, Reina, racked up an astonishing 14,528 text messages in one month. The online AT&T statement ran 440 pages.

"First, I laughed. I thought, 'That's insane, that's impossible,' " the 45-year-old dad said. "And I immediately whipped out the calculator to see if it was humanly possible."

He found it was - barely.

It works out to 484 text messages a day, or one every two minutes of every waking hour.

"Then I thought maybe AT&T made some mistake on the bill," said Hardesty, of Silverado Canyon.

The reporter for the Orange County Register grilled his daughter on her texting habit - by text message, of course.

"Who are you texting, anyway? Your entire school?" he asked.

"Well, a lot of my friends have unlimited texting. I just text them pretty much all the time," she explained.

She messages a core of "four obsessive texters" - all girls between the ages of 12 and 13 - on her LG phone.

Reina had a karaoke birthday party, and while other people were singing, she was texting her best friend sitting right next to her.

She even texted her friends to brag about the high number of text messages she had logged when her parents got the statement.

Her texting soared last month because "it was winter break and I was bored," Reina told her parents.

Luckily, Hardesty has a phone plan that allows unlimited texting for $30 a month. Otherwise, he estimates, he would have owed AT&T $2,905.60 at a rate of 20 cents per message.

The average number of monthly texts for a 13- to 17-year-old teen is 1,742, according to a Nielsen study of cellphone usage.

Hardesty admits he himself punches in 900 messages a month - 700 more than average for his age group, according to Nielsen.

Hardesty and his ex-wife have since placed restrictions on Reina's cellphone use, ruling she cannot text after dinner.
