I went on Friday last year... always like having a little down time before rushing right into the big party. Went to the official pre-party at Bleu with Ryan Elliott and Efdemin, so yes, there is stuff to do.
Don't got any earlier than late Friday though... Detroit is a ghost town.

Oh yeah, got teh flights

Booking the hotel next week when I get paid again.

edit: Does somebody know how the Riverside Hotel is? I hate the fact that the Marriott is smoke-free.
I stayed there last year.

It's cool. I liked my room but I wasn't really there much anyways. The first room I got had no bathroom door which was weird - so I had to go downstairs and request another room. They did it and the beds were nice and huge.

It's just one block up and 2 blocks to the left of the venue. Not bad at all.

edit - the majority of the people I know.. get there Saturday afternoon.

edit 2 - the showers suck at that hotel. It's like no tub - just a floor and a curtain.

I think most big commercial hotels are gonna be smoke free these days. you might have to go with a local (see: ghetto) hotel for smoking, hehe

Just watch, when it comes to partying in the hotel, all the smokers will migrate to my room.

Don't care about the shower, as long as I can wash off the grime every day.

I gotta meet ya, Mel!

Yeah, what he said ^^^

Made the mistake of booking a smoking room last year and ALSO made the mistake of booking a LOCAL hotel as well, jesus christ!

Room smelled AWFUL and some thugs tried to sell us some weed and crack outside our hotel, gah!

Smoked in a smoke free Ren Center room last year. It shouldn't be a problem as long as you're away from the smoke detectors and not chain smoking or anything

I went to my first DEMF in 2007 and it was amazing. After doing a few European dance festivals this past year, I can say that DEMF is one of the best in the world. I can't wait for my 2nd DEMF this year. My hotel is already booked.

I wonder when the line-ups will start being released?

I hope to see Ricardo, Onur Ozer, Chaim or Stimming on the bill.

Clovis is hell bent on getting VIP. Someshit like free liquor - was it Jameson or some nasty shit?? Your own Port-o-potty's... he knows more - he had it last year.

A lot of us don't do it cuz the hotel is next door - u can just leave and come right back.

oh fuck that. Im at the rencen, and im not planning on drinking much anyway...if I do i'll keep shit in my hotel room, and I dont need luxurious portapotties lol

thanks.

any word on when the lineup will be announced?

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Mar-13-2009 21:23:

yeah I really don't see a point in VIP.

The GA band was fine... I paid 40 for it last year - this year it might be a little higher if presales are 35.

No clue about the line up - it's still quite a bit away. I planned my trip in April last year lol.

i heard around the 24th of the month..

so far i've heard rumors that adam beyer, audion, marco carola, jamie jones and damian lazarus are all scheduled for something in detroit that weekend. not a bad start.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Mar-13-2009 21:24:

Definitely.. this is one festival where I don't think you'll have to worry about the line-up.
