i have a 52" 1080p at home that it's connected to. the graphics are great. call of duty 4 running at 1080p is amazingly crisp.

and like biggie said, HDMI all the way. without a doubt

Posted by JBDreamerie on Jan-15-2009 17:54:

i was in the same scenario about a year ago. but i ended up going with the xbox.
what got me is the really great online play and good downloads (ability to play classic games such as street fighter, symphony of the night, bomberman, etc. at pretty low price). Plus, games are pretty much released on both PS3 and xbox, so i was happy with the overall game selection.
then, once i got it, i realized i could stream my music/movies/pictures from my computer to my xbox. since my tv is much bigger than my computer screen, all those episodes of tv shows and movies didn't go to waste, and i can enjoy any of them on the big screen.

I've seen people with HDTVs and PS3s and have them hooked up via composite. I just have to slap them upside the head and educate them.
Don't listen to this guy there is a big difference between 1080p and 720p from 32-50 up inches. XBox360 and ps3 both do 1080p,

Don't listen to this guy. Xbox cannot play blu-ray discs and can only play the DEAD media of HD-DVD IF you buy the add-on which is actually cheap (50 bucks or less) but you're stuck not being able to buy or rent any new movies.

XBOX-DVD can upconvert DVDs to 1080i but in no way does an upconverted DVD look as good as blu-ray.

and the keyword is PROBABLY could not tell the difference. Sorry for assuming Carlos has bad eyes. I mean have you seen the women he hooks up with? I keed I keed

Target can have the pleasure of sending the machine back, not me.

btw, put a paintball gun in your vagina.

most retail stores will do that within 2 weeks i was talking about the warranty from the manufacturer. if you are past the refund/exchange date which is usually 14-30 days they will tell you to fuck off

Don't even mention Dave's mom; that was a total mistake.

Posted by sharper on Jan-15-2009 21:02:

actually it would be a 2.5 month wait, not a 4 month wait.
2nd half of january, feb, & march......not much of a wait at all for me, especially since we have the wii, PS2, PSP, DS, and Gamecube. I don't mind waiting at all to save $100.

reminds me of the 1st generation of the iphone that everyone payed bookoos for and then they dropped the price. people were pissed. lol

Thats one of the articles. I actually found talks about this in many articles.

Posted by Zild on Jan-15-2009 21:05:

I would pay $100 just to have it and use it for that 2.5 months.

No no, seriously nice reviews. It's looking like the PS3 takes the gold but I do have a netflix account (Ryan, check it out at the App Store as well), and netflix is the shit.

As far as pricing, I'm thinking I'd like to wait it out, but the only thing with that is it's pointless (other than paying less BEING the point), because game systems will continue coming out, older one's will drop in value, and game console technology will always outgrow the lesser, so I might as well drop the money now. I'm pretty sure they'll be going even lower than $316 (someone's gotta make money somewhere). The plasma I bought, a year ago, weighed in at $3700. I just scored it at Best Buy for less than half that.

I'm thinking in the dj world, cdj's are going to be dropping in price like flies. I'm sure everything's looking touch-screen in the next few years or so....even cars for God's sake.

Ok I stopped after reading this post cause I assume it's either the usual random crazyness of this board or the usual ongoing debate of xbox vs ps

But I had to reply to this one because it's a good bet we won't see a new console for another two years or sooo... Personal prefference lays with xBox though...

It's turned more or less into should he buy now or later. They are predicting a price cut in the PS3 come the new fiscal year for Sony in April. Currently retailing at 399 for the 80GB model. The biggest predicted price cut would be down to 299 IF it happens. The topic at hand is Dell is selling it for 316 right now so why wait 2.5 months for a price cut that may or may not come. A 17 dollar difference is a minimal loss to take for not having to wait to get your PS3 in my opinion.

For Carlos that's just one extra Deuce Bigalow he has to perform

Fuck the possible price cut. He wants a console now, not months from now. Guide to buying a gaming console:

1) choose a console
2) buy it

Top 10 Videogame Rentals of 2008
Not a single PS3 game to be found.
by Nate Ahearn

January 15, 2009 - GameDaily.com is reporting on videogame rental data released by Rentrak that shows Grand Theft Auto IV as the most rented videogame of 2008. More specifically, it was the Xbox 360 version that captured the crown in its 35 weeks of release. Seven of the ten games are from Microsoft's system while the other three called Nintendo's Wii home. No PlayStation 3 games made the top ten. Four of the ten top rentals of 2008 were released in 2007, including: Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed and Mario Party 8. No specific rental sales numbers were listed.

Here's the rest of the list:
1. Grand Theft Auto IV – Xbox 360 – Rockstar Games
2. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – Xbox 360 – Activision
3. Halo 3 – Xbox 360 – Microsoft
4. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 – Xbox 360 – Ubisoft
5. Army of Two – Xbox 360 – Electronic Arts
6. Mario Kart Wii – Wii – Nintendo
7. Super Smash Bros. Brawl – Wii – Nintendo
8. Fallout 3 – Xbox 360 – Bethesda Softworks
9. Assassin's Creed – Xbox 360 – Ubisoft
10. Mario Party 8 – Wii – Nintendo

I'm not sayin, but I'm just sayin

just because it's more popular doesn't mean it will work better

example: obama

Posted by Zild on Jan-15-2009 21:53:

See that is why I don't have an Xbox. All of those games I think are better on the PC. Except for the ones on the wii which i had but never played.

Considering there are more XBOXs sold than PS3s I'm not surprised there are more xbox games rented or played.

6 out 10 of those games are also available on the PS3 while 1 is a XBOX exclusive. The rest are Wii games. As I said before if you're hardcore gamer then go for the xbox. If you want a balance between movies and games, then go for the PS3.

Which works better is a matter of opinion for the most part. When gta 4 and all of the arcade games for xbox live were announced, I knew I had to buy one. I was formerly a huge Playstation enthusiast and hated xbox for years

Best solution: Buy both.

I chose the PS3 over the xbox primarily because I don't just game. Blu-ray movies are phenomenal IF you have the TV to match it. Nothing on HD television can match the quality of blu-ray.

I say i probably watch movies more than I play games because of the great picture quality.

Xbox has the better online gaming by far. PSN is far behind but it's nothing to sneeze at plus it's free.

If you're a hardcore gamer than XBOX 360 seems like the way to go.

If you want somethimng more to do than gaming than PS3.

I use my PS3 to:

Watch blu-ray movies
Play games
stream movies, tv shows, and music from my desktop PC to my TV (xbox does this to) I'm not sure though if the xbox has as many decoders as I'm able to watch ripped blu-ray movies. Can someone with an xbox confirm this?

So basically while i may not have the BEST games, at least the PS3 for me is more of a multi-entertainment device. That aspect allows me to use it everyday.

+1

I have both and I love both very much. Im a gamer so 360 fits me very well. Then I enjoy movies so much I have the PS3 for bluray. I have one game for the ps3, CoD World at War, FTW!..its amazing on the ps3

in conclusion....buy both
