listen to this. My dad says the only "techno" he has ever liked was the early 80s techno...his example . The Real McCoys "another night". download this song and tell me if its electronica in any form. He doesnt consider what I listen to "techno" he calls it noise, and a degeneration from the earlier stuff (the mccoys) and he only liked that 1 song. So he has basically said the only real techno this world has ever seen is that song. Listen to it, its terrible. Whenever he says that I get this big goofy ass grin on my face and I feel superior, its great

bax0r

that's actually mid nineties Euro Dance/Freestyle... and it wasn't too bad for it's time... heh... my dad likes Real Mccoy songs too... probably the girl's voice and the sexual innuendo etc... dirty wop....

but i'm certain both of my parents hate real electronic music.... my uncle too... he whines about it all the time... tho he does like soccer anthems and some funky house... i was at his house today by his pool listening to his cds...

Don't be knocking the Real McCoys. They rocked way back when!

this thread reminds me of yesterday

I was, like I almost every am, downloading stuff from the internet... my uncle and aunt happened to visit my parents (still live home) and he came into the computerroom.... blabla.. at that time the record "kai tracid - life is too short (energy remix)" was on the speakers and he said: hey, that's a nice tune you have got there... what is .

I was like !!
because he is like 65+ years old!!

at that time I ran of to my parents saying that they should take an example from my uncle ... since they HATE it... (especially stuff with bass.. my mom sometimes like stuff without basses, but my dad hates everything (well, every music that is )... *sigh*)

Posted by DJ_Bod on Jun-10-2002 14:40:

My parents really don't give a damn... Sometimes, my Dad will say something like "This has a nice beat", but I can never really tell if he's being serious. My mom likes most of it, as long as it doesn't wake her up... LOL... OK, I need to explain that one. she just had surgery, and can't go into her bedroom (upstairs) yet. So, since I wasn't coming home on Friday night she slept in my room. Well, I forgot to turn off my alarm, and it happened to go off at 5:15 in the morning, quite loudly, playing Love Parade 2001. LOL... Needless to say, she hates that song now... LOL... And my brother listens to hard rock/heavy metal. But I've started getting him to listen to some drum and bass... Hey, its a step in the right direction...

Posted by Raptor on Jun-10-2002 23:24:

my parents don't say much... i caught my dad listening to techno before that his friend gave him. i some crazy techno comming from outside, thought it was the neighbor comming home next thing you know my dad walks through the front door. the following day i was browsing cds in his car and said to him " this isn't mine, you listen to techno huh?" he replied i dont' listen to this crap my friend gave it to me. then i told him i heard you playing this shit so loud last night it woke me up in my sleep. but after that i never heard my dad listen to it again . damn !

both parents dont' say anything about it, even though i play it loud enough the next store neighbor can hear it.

Posted by Trancer-adu on Jun-10-2002 23:40:

my parents are really cool with it; my mom likes the majority of trance that i listen too... the stuff with good beats, pvd ,... she likes the livesets with the crowds in the background; she's very supportive of it, and she has no problem with me going clubbing (neither does my dad)... at the beginning, my dad, who likes jazz btw., called it "thump thump" music, and once compared it to rap... let's just say that i got ticked off, and he never made that remark again... anyways, he likes the more chill stuff, like chicane... it's all good though... they respect my taste in music, which kicks ass :

my mom loves it
not to the point where she will go out of her way to listen to it, but if i leave a cd lying in the car, she will play it
and loves what cds i play in the car
she's really loving dj dawn's november mix

my dad tolerates it, but after a while he'll start to want something else

When ever I'm playing trance on the commie (which is downstairs) an ma parents walk in they always do a stoopid little dancey thing n I jus feel embarrassed coz they do it when friends are round as well
On the other hand they appriciate the fact that I love the stuff and dont mind me playing it all day long.
I really wish they'd give it a chance n listen to it and try and like it, all they hear is the bass and then jus turn off and ignore the rest If only they knew, I figure there missin out

My old man: "We had enough of that Jungle music, don't you think?"

I don't know where he got jungle from, since I hate that crap.

my mother LOVES all the stuff with female vocals. sarah mclachlan remixed, in my memory, southern sun, such is life...stuff like that.

my father just doesnt like it but he never tells me to turn it down or shut it off cause i dont do that to him when hes listening to his classic rock.

Posted by vmc on Jun-27-2002 20:24:

my mom tolerates it
my dad hates it, he says 'what's that noise you're listening?'
awful.

Posted by Biohazard on Jun-27-2002 20:32:

By dad calls DJ Tiesto plane man, after having seen the flight 643 clip. My mom calls Chris Liebings stuff "Engine room sounds". My brother doesn't care, he likes Marco v's GODD and Hybrids Finished Symphony.

When i was visiting my parents, i had southern sun playing, and my mom absolutely loves that song.

She keeps calling it the "next james bond theme" or something

Think.......i play it anyways.....i just don't play it as loud if my parents get mad. My brother listens to heavy metal, so most of the time, i need to blast my trance to not hear my brother's awful music.

Sneaker Pimp cruiiisinmn..

my mom is sooo funny when it comes to trance..

she loves the vocals and she loves uplifting trance songs

like dj tiesto - urban train.. i recorded a copy on tape

and everytime she is cruisin, she always listens to trance..

she says it soothes her body and everyday she excersises and dances

oh soo funny she moves her body twisting.. sometimes i join her.. :P

haha just kidding.. well yea trance i'd say is the most peaceful music

that can connect one with others easily!
