I think they should also consider having a Legends/OldTimers game rather than a Youngstars Game. The Youngstars is the WORST part of the All-Star weekend in my opinion.

They've done the old timers games before...but I agree...I would rather see that then the Youngstars game.

why the f*ck is this game on versus??? what shit!! All the other all-star games get national channels.

I refuse to buy that channel because I get all my local sports teams via the local channels...... so I would have to buy Versus monthly JUST to watch games like the all-star game. such SHIT!!!

(I am guessing canada doesnt have this problem??)

hey hey now versus IS a national channel. it comes standard with most cable packages around the rest of the country but not with time warner. not sure why you don't have it but i do and i'm only one step up from uber basic cable. you have movie channels while i don't. either way, versus is the us broadcasting partner of the nhl similar to how cbc tsn and rds are broadcasting partners in canada.

i can get into a whole long discussion with you another time about versus and what it could of would have been if some things happened. either way, versus is a national channel owned by comcast a competitor of time warner so that might have a lot to do with why you don't have it. you probably don't have sportsnet channels either

all-star games in all the sports are a joke really; the skills contests aren't, however. I can watch the NBA dunk contest, three point shot, the hockey skills contests all day long.

Even baseball, a sport that is not aesthetically pleasing to most, has a pretty interesting home run derby, imo.

I agree with Chem that it's a shit-show for the most part.

But I think they should continue with it for the simple reason that I believe it's nice to watch the players get out and have some fun, instead of playing under the constant pressure of a real hockey game. It's nice to see them chirping at eachother and havin a laugh together even though they're on different teams, and it's nice to see them try some of the flashier, hot-dog moves that they can't do without being benched the rest of the game if the move costs them a odd-man rush the other way.

Chem, for people who want to watch REAL entertaining hockey, we get the playoffs, to watch the good players skate around and have some fun for a change, we have the all-star game. If you expect a good game, or demand a good game, ya, you'll be disappointed, but if you accept ahead of time what the outcome will be (and it shouldn't be too hard, you've demonstrated that you know what to expect), then you can find some enjoyment in the fact that hey, they're just out having some fun, and I think that's the point.

This is a good reason why the Allstar Game should be rolled into the Winter Classic...although I don't know how its a classic after three years .

I still think it would be great to see the best players in the world play against each other in a meaningful game....it can only increase viewership.

Anyone can make fancy passing plays when they are skating at 3/4 speed and are not affraid of getting hit. Yes, its fun to see the players actually having a light hearted time...but I still think you can keep that aspect of it and have it more competitive.

even those doesn't showcase the greatest 40 players in the world...they showcase the greatest countries....big difference.

the reason i said those two events is because that is the closest you'll get to having all the world's best athletes compete against each other culminating with one championship game whether it be basketball, hockey or baseball.
