You've been spinning for 14 years (since you were 13).Wow - is that the early start program?????

Posted by Omni on Jul-09-2001 21:41:

Dunno if this is off-topic...

Where did you all learn? Teach yourself er what? Any ideas for a newbie?

Posted by Hurricane on Jul-09-2001 23:25:

TranceDance yepp, u think that was early hehe
check out Max2LC on page 3 started when he was 12.

This might be a answear to u too Omni...
It all started on a teenagerdisco, had a little chat with the dj, and I was lost in music!! For me it was only the mixing that interested me! Got some tapes from a local dj, listed to them over and over again, and tried to "copy" the mix He also learned me the basic rules, like 1234,1234, and mixbreakes, he also gave me alot of help in the beginning (I can thank him for what he did for me)

Got a job in a local radiostation as a technician when I was 15, that was heaven for me all the equipment right there!!! Did also had a friend that had a small soundstudio But he moved to London, where he got a little bit too much partydrugs, (no worry, he is still alive, somewhere)

To u Omni, and all other newbies, try to listen to mixes, and understand the basics rules of music.
The best way is ofcourse ask a dj if he could show u some tricks, most of them will, we are proud of what we do.

Its all in your ears, the pitching will be there after hours, months, and years with training.

Mixing it's not easy

I've kind of began the James Holden idea...I believe it was him...

Whoever it was...there was an article in Mixmag about 5 months ago that explained how he began to DJ. He used to listen to all the tapes/sets and tried to record every single sound that was made during the set...that's pretty much all I remember...

Well...I've been doing that for about 3 months and I've got stacks of papers for sets that include every sound, pitch up or down, bass up or down, and bpm's.

Pretty sick huh? Oh well...hopefully you can help me move more in this kind of direction...

Producing's what I want to get into first...then perhaps DJ.

Posted by Hurricane on Jul-10-2001 00:05:

Hello Omni!!
Ok what kind of producing are we talking about her? mixes, remixes, or new tracks??

first of all u need some software what I use is!

Cooledit pro or 2000 *Good digital audio recorder& editor
Sonic Foundry Vegas *Good multitracker*

If u need help just bring it up and I'll see what I can do

Posted by Omni on Jul-10-2001 03:06:

Well...I'd love to do mixes and remixes first...my idea in mind is this:

Satoshi Tomiie...Timo Maas...

Correct me if I'm wrong...but originally remixers before creating their own albums?

Might be wrong there...but I figured that if I did some remixes of some songs that it would make a difference...

Tell me where I can get those programs?

You got ICQ or AOL's Instant Messenger Hurricane?

Posted by Omni on Jul-10-2001 03:16:

I'd love to do some mixing and remixing...

Kind of want to do that before I become a DJ I suppose...

Any ideas on how I should start anyone? I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on it if I could...

Sorry for posting twice...seems the boards are a lil' messed up!

Lemme know..

Posted by Hurricane on Jul-10-2001 07:17:

Ok first a little warning!!!
The remixes are mostly made out of mastertapes that comes from the producer of the original track, so your way to do it have to be to rip the song apart and change and twist it... and belive me it's a &%&&&#&%#( job

Simo Maas had a few selfmade remixes on his last album yes, but not every1 does their own remixes before they release an mixalbum...

And the programs are here:

http://www.syntrillium.com/

http://www.sonicfoundry.com

I don't use Icq for the moment, but I can install it again
Icq:20031490
