Some names I've already seen mentioned that I would also like:

Thomas Bronzewaer
Suzy Solar (I hear she's moving to LA soon)
Victor Dinaire
Soneface and Terminal
Blake Jarrell
and some others:

-Nitrous Oxide (I don't know that he ever makes it out to the states, but you never know)
-Johan Gielen
-Mark Norman
-DJ Irene (saw her there last year and I thought she kicked ass..lot of fun)

Dont get me wrong, He is one of the few trance DJ's that still amuse me. But I would not consider the lineup at Circus on Feb 7th as changing it up by any stretch of the imagination.

Clovis: The wall is listening! And here's its reply : most of those gigs happened a long time ago and Piet's style has changed since then. Also, you can't even count the Armin Only event because Piet and Benno were hired to play a 20-min live set of their biggest (& fluffy) songs. Of course Piet could play a trick on me and play the fluffiest set ever next Saturday, if he reads my posts here, because he loves to piss me off And btw, I never claimed Rank 1 playing at Circus would be a huge change (Rank 1 was booked by Nikita btw, not Circus)

Piet was a special request to Nakita by many TAs and they made it happen, some of us old schools still love the so called Anthems, The difference with Piet is when he drops one of them it's usually one that he helped produce, in reality he can play Airwave, Symsonic and There Be Light all night and its perfectly fine

yea, all I was saying is that Circus books trance. That is all Nikita booked. I know you are friends with piet, and a fan, but Rank 1 is no exception thus he should be categorized with the others i mentioned. Yes the gigs were a while ago, but he hasnt been out since vangard has he?

RED tried to go outside of trance a bit. Henry brought out guys like Lexicon Ave, and other progressive acts, as well as the hard stuff like scot project and Yoji. The prog acts never really did well in terms of numbers.

Yep, Nikita is all about trance. RED definitely didn't do well with non-trance djs, maybe partially because the other genres were and still are so well represented at Avalon and Vanguard with much bigger names. Trance works pretty well for Circus because it can be hard to find trance elsewhere on Saturday nights.

agreed, but this thread is about trying to bring in new DJ's to expand their crowd. The trance that has branded Circus has kept many clubbers away. Now, to please the built in crowd they have, they need to keep a narrow mind in terms of bookings. As we mentioned, RED tried other stuff and it flopped. It hasnt worked since Spundae was there...

He has played there in the past and he also played at The Mayan who doesn't even have a million dollar sound system! He also played at Avalon who is a pure EAW sound club.

I didn't say sasha wouldn't play at circus cause of EAW, I said he wouldn't play because it circus doesn't have a proper EAW sound to it.

So to say Sasha wouldn't play at a club because it has EAW sound is just ridiculous. As a matter of fact, I have seen Sasha play on a shitty $500 speak JBL EON system here in LA!

we're talking saturday club night... not the monday night social...

BTW..
Bring the SASHA & DIGWEED to circus!!! it will be most definitely the night to remember!!

and woody's techno set at circus will be nice!!! ; )

The problem with Circus is that it's DAMN TOO BIG!!!

Like others have mentioned, it's hard to fill it up every week. If Circus would shut down all the other rooms and only keep the main room open and put a DJ on the patio, that place would be awesome. Again, with some remodeling done.

Bring new trance acts like

Giuseppe Ottaviani
Tom Colontonio
Robert Nickson
Daniel Kandi
Oliver Smith
Jennifer Rene (she actually DJ's)
Nitrous Oxide
Jose Amnesia
Mat Zo
Sebastian Brandt
Dash Berlin
Thomas Bronzwaer
Andy Duguid
Wippenberg
Myon & Shane 54
Activa

it's definitely the crowds that makes good VIBE.
and good dj is all about bringing the good vibe!!

If circus fill up the crowds in every room, it will be the best VIBE in the hollywood!!

Oh Lextion Ave. Went not knowing who they where and I was really impressed and I am a fan of Robert Nickson. He killed it the times he played at Circus!!!!

Circus always reminded me of a dance at a high school gymnasium.

I thoroughly enjoyed James Zabiela's set there, back in the day, cause the set-up made him so accessible.
The crowd fed off of his energy and visa-versa.

give us cash flow by way of angel investors, we'd take a gander at circus...(sshhh, gerard doesnt know im even remotely considering this)...

Im not going to share the DJs at this point though that we would target, all im saying is there is a big untapped market out there who like certain DJs who can fill up circus...

ergo, DJ Luxor!

I definitely don't think there are any untapped electronic music 'markets' in LA...? Care to name one performer?

a perfect example is the electro fidget house segment thats blowing up the last few months...they werent there before...

its just looking for the need or want and providing it to the targeted consumer...

I know but I was too busy hijacking the thread

[/end of hijack]

Electro fidget house might be blowing up but it still doesn't have enough fans to fill a ginormous club like Circus that doesn't even have a (well known) promoter and struggles with competition. If they have EFH in just one of the rooms it's a different story.
