Robert Miles for me.
Jean-Michel Jarre
It all began when I heard the song 'Pistolero' by Juno Reactor. Electronic music became an entire new world for me - I had heard nothing like it.
Then my brother-in-law (sister's boyfriend at the time) heard me playing some Goa Trance in my room. He suggested that I do a Google of 'Essential Mix'. I had no fucking clue what that was at the time, and I ended up downloading quite possibly my favorite mix of all time:
Paul Oakenfold: Live @ Lotherton Hall, Gatecrasher.
I downloaded it because it was recorded on my birthday (June 20th). I became OBSESSED (I still am to this day). After that it was Tranceport, random tracks by Tiesto (Silence remix, Traffic, Flight 643, you know, the overplayed ones), & Robert Miles. While it's been maybe just two years, my favorites are still pretty much the 'Top 10', with PvD being my hero lately.
Menudo?
None in particular, I just ended up listening to DI.fm and I discovered a whole new musical world, since then I can't stop listening to Trance.
Magda , guy pierce and that whole minus sound got me into trance.
My first actual trancey trance was from Simon Berry and his various Platipus label-mates. Before that I was pretty much listening to whatever dancey crap I could get on tapes.
I launched into old school techno with Darude, Binary Finary, ATB, and Alice Deejay
and progressed to Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, DJ Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, and the lot. I listened to them, and produced amateur trance for a while. I moved out of trance until I listened to John 00 Fleming's live set at Colorsfest and it rocked my world in June last year. I've been obsessed with full on psy ever since.
these were the tracks that had the biggest impact on me when i was younger and started to get me more into trance rather then house and techno:
robert miles-children
yves deruyter-feel free (which is really written by m.i.k.e
)
blank and jones- the nightfly
djs that got me into trance were:
tiesto,ferry,armin,marco v
solar stone, more specifically seven cities
christopher lawrence is the reason I got into trance and he's still the best out there imo.
New Kids on the Block and Marky Mark and a Funky Bunch
c'mon, FEEL DA VIBRATION!
