I'm sure they checked to see if I was eligible to to have a drivers license. They also checked to make sure I could drive.

Did they check to see if you could shoot a gun in a safe manner? Something as simple as an eyesight exam, for example?

I'm sure they did not call the FBI to verify if you were able to drive, which by federal law is what any firearm dealer has to do.

By the way, yes you can buy a car with no license. As long as licensed driver is with you and the car is insured by the time you leave the lot. Which is unlike buying a gun. Only the person getting the background check is the only person allowed to buy a gun.

Sure. I was in the military so i am trained with weapons. I currently work with the federal government. All my friends work either the police department, Border Patrol, or some other federal agency. They all have their own personal weapons. Everybody enjoys shooting at targets, so i got into it.

No, they didn't call the federal police to see if I could drive. They had a qualified examiner TEST ME. Clever of them, I know.

Ok, it's good that you were trained, I wasn't sure. I'll ease up

I'm curious to know then: What's your opinion regarding the easy sale of deadly weapons to 'untrained' civilians in your country?

try killing something with a knife. it gives you a different perspective on death when you have to feel a living thing dying and you can't simply shot and look away: pussies!

once i get restricted firearm license, planning to get an M4 and a Glock17

once you've shot a rocket launcher though, rifles just dont get the adrenaline going as much anymore

Here it is left up to the individual states on how somebody guys a weapon. In CA, you do have to have a license to buy a concealable weapon. They also have a waiting period as well. They also restrict the sale of "assault" type weapons as well. concealable weapons have to be registered, but rifles and shotguns do not.

I live in Arizona. We have the most relax gun laws in the country. anybody who passes a background check is allowed to walkout with any weapon in a matter of minutes. Arizona allows the sale of "assault" type weapons (semi only) and the possession/transfer of "machine gun" type weapons. No weapons have to be registered.

I believe that all weapons should be registered with the government. I personally don't care if they ban assault type weapons either. I don't believe that they have to tested to make sure they know how to shoot. A dealer should make sure that a person knows how to check to see a weapon is loaded, how to clear a weapon, how to put a weapon on safe, and how to lock the weapon so that childern can not activate it. Maybe even sign some documentation to state that it was done.

I saw my mother get shot in the head and die right in front of me. I don't blame the gun. I blame the person.

Killing somebody or seeing somebody die is not what i call "cool".

From my perspective, all of that still seems like a remarkably easy way to procure a deadly weapon. This is to say nothing of the fact that this 'ease' would be fueling an enormous black market for guns.

I'm not naive enough to think that there are no guns in Australia, despite our strict firearm laws, but here it's FUCKING hard for some some unstable weirdo to just go out and buy a device that could end multiple lives within seconds. Legally purchased, or otherwise.

I just think there is no necessity for guns

Ok, that's pretty fucking intense.

Do you feel no anger, though, at the people who made that firearm accessible to that particular guy? The government's lax gun laws? From a situation like that, you should be more anti-gun than anyone, but you seem to have embraced gun culture as acceptable, knowing what the potential results can be?

We cannot do that here, due to the second amendment. It part of our bill of rights that the people are allowed to own personal firearms. The chances of that overturned anytime in the near future is VERY VERY VERY slim. Of course there are people who lose those rights, say for example felons. I say this not because "GUNS...HELL YEAH" type of attitude, but because in reality the U.S. banning all guns will not happen.

The strictest enforcement that i can see is this: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/

No i do not blame firearm laws. If the person wanted to kill my mom, they could have easily have done it with a knife, bat, or any other type of weapon. 99.99% I blame the person. 0.01% i blame the drugs.

I'm going to bed now. i have to wake up in 4 hrs. night.
