I used to be on the trance bandwagon like you, but trust me, house/tech/minimal is a lot better if you really start listening into the music.

Don't get me wrong, there is still good trance out there, but it's like only 5% of the tracks that are good. And it's not all those kiddie/lazer/wave your hands in the air trance songs either.

I listen to more metal than anything believe it or not. Then I listen to a lot of trance. I listen to a little of everything else also. So, I am not as close minded as you may think, I just hate when people try to come in and say "people's minds need to be opened to stuff besides trance" or "I've graduated from trance." Trance for me will always be the best electronic dance music. I will still give others a chance of course.

I have never been to club dreams before. Can anybody give me some details on the environment? Size fo main dancefloor, how many people, lights, sound, security, etc...? I'm gonna be makin a trip to see dubfire so i just kinda wanna know what to expect at this club. Thanks for any info!

The size of the dreamz dancefloor is about 4 opera mainroom dancefloors, but its all open, it's like a big open box with a small room in the front of the club (i think it used to be a basketball arena). Supposedly the limit is 3000 people compared to Opera's 1500.. but Opera has a lot of spread out rooms, Dreamz is pretty much one big room so it makes it seem like it can fit more, perfect for an EDM show. It has a stage up front, where the DJ's will be spinning, they just got a new laser not too long ago which is pretty sweet.. The sound is better than most other venues in ATL, including Opera... I heard that for previous EDM shows, people wanted to host them at dreamz because it's so big and open till 6am, but working it out with the owners/managers at the club was tough.. Mainly because it's a hip hop club and they barely understand anything about the EDM crowd.. But overall I think it's good that liquified worked it out with the owner's in doing this event.. It's perfect for a 'rave' type atomosphere =}

Yea, but as I said earlier... I went with a friend about a month ago and I swear there were only about 50 people there. They pulled in an almost decent crowd when VIPNightlife and Elev8 did parties there, about the time Chris was spinning afterhours... but they didn't promote long, and the crowd seemingly went with them. They'd be retarded not to let someone host a party there now.

I love that it has open space, and the staff never seemed as bad as most other typical ATL clubs. They do do that holding the line shit to pretend there are a lot of people in the place, but I've NEVER seen it more than about half full. But... what place doesn't do that these days?

Ye, but that time your talking about was also 'club season' (the summer) when the girls come out to play in their slutfits(nothing against that btw). In the winter, few clubs do good. And also, that time they had about 4-6 promoters promoting it at one time. Guess how many promoters they have right now? NONE. They are just relying on people coming out on their own for now.

Mainly because all those promoters wanted too much money, so they decided to try it out on their own and kicked all of them out.. So much for that. They are pretty much dead right now as you said because no one is promoting the place and they also are losing their 'hip hop' base last I heard. Hopefully this show revives them and the future liquified shows are held here. I guarantee once the usual liquifed crowd comes out to dreamz for this show, they will be amazed at how much better it is than Opera. None of that fake crowd.

thanx for the info guys...i am hoping there is a decent turnout cuz i havent heard a good dj spin since last summer, so i should have a great time either way.

glowsticks. Most definitely glowsticks. Come with three of them stacked and strapped to your forehead and state that you're a glowstick unicorn for free VIP.

I'm bringing my glowsticks and shoestrings for sure.

Dreams aka Dekalb Atlanta center (back in the days) is where I saw PvD for the first time, he was promoting "The Politics of Dancing" album and I also met Scott for the first time......

hmm...... 8 years ago!!

Haven't been to Dreams yet but sure it'll be fun to see Dubfire and see what the venue looks like now days!!

OMG jack... havent seen you in ages!

Come to think of it I haven't been out in ages... the sound quality at opera is so poor I never want to...
but... I need a night out and this place is open until 6am, and i think checking out a new venue would be fun....

I need to go and find my dancing shoes again!
