when i go anywhere i am there to listen to the music, not sit there and watch how the dj is mixing it. i could care less if he was banging around 20 trashcans if it sounded good then who cares where the music is coming from.

embrace technology. its only going to get more advanced

Apparently there's some hate for Ableton producers as well:

people seem to like the idea of a dj more than they do the actual dj itself

remember when we were having this same discussion about CDJ's a few years back? welp, same thing

Nothing wrong with Ableton DJs as long as they play good tracks. Who the fuck stares at a DJ the whole gig anyhow? If I wanted to do that I'd just sit at home watching YouTube clips all day and save myself the energy.

What energy would you save because you'd be fapping a lot.

At least it'd be fapping to pron as opposed to fapping to a man spinning vinyl.

thats a pretty ignorant, idiotic statement considering serato is a DVS and ableton is designed to perform live electronic music (crazy I know, its not all about the 1 fucking dj you saw who was using ableton).

hipsters and there generalizations...

Incredibly ironic.

yep - i find it amusing that kids these days are saying things like "id rather stick to good old cdj's than cheat with abletronz...

like 4 years ago it was the same except - "id rather stick with good old vinyl than cheat with cdj's....

its retarded and i find most of the complainers are the ones who cant be bothered or are too stupid or stubborn to learn how to use abletr0nz..

its the sound that comes outta the speakers - nothing else

Posted by kadomony on Feb-26-2009 06:24:

for me its a cost issue.
i'm considering getting a laptop/midi controller/external audio card in the future, and with that i can use ableton to dj (more creatively), produce on it (on the go no less), browse the internet, and more, all from one device.

a lot more cost effective imo than getting cdjs, a mixer, all the cables, CDs (and the time spent burning/labelling them), and still wanting to get a laptop for on-the-go activities.

using BPM readers on CDJs is cheating.

Easy fix: With Autosync you don't need them

Posted by jupiterone on Feb-27-2009 00:13:

a dj that plays absolutely shit music even if he's using all the most sophisticated techniques with turntables and a mixer or a dj that uses ableton and plays fucking smashing tunes...hmmm.....which to choose?

seriously, even though it's considered an art form to do some amazing tricks with the conventional dj tools, there is no substitution for good music

it's like watching santana shredding the fuck out of a guitar with an entire symphony orchestra and a tribe of ancient mayans playing flutes, it still sucks if it sounds like this

It was as painful as it was embarrassing. I hope they recovered that train-wreck and turned it into something half-way listenable.

The video is a joke. Someone dubbed over it with a deliberately terrible medley.

I didn't figure it out, I just read it on the Youtube comments. I followed the link at the end because I couldn't believe Santana would play such shit and wanted to see the story behind it.

You know, I thought the applause sounded a little canned and the audience a little too eager to appreciate anything.

I have been trolled!

Posted by whiskers on Feb-27-2009 03:59:

boring? djs?

what the fuck. just drink more/pop more E and get back to dancing/groping women.

you're not here to look at the DJ manhandling records, are you?

There's a whole series of 'shreds' out there. A lot of them are crap, but this one for Creed is brilliant!
