If you don't like the label, don't listen to it.
For instance, if some satanist would label his or her music satanic trance, would i make a hissy fit about it?
No, i'd just ignore it.
I think you're just cross because you just can't stand the word christian put on it, because you can't stand anything reminding you of any belief.
Your problem, you deal with it.
If you don't like it, ignore it, like i ignore so many things i find offensive that are NOT especially targeted at me.

relax baby girl i'm bored so i felt like invading the forums elfreak style

You just ASSUME that christian producers say that.

yeah thats right i speculated with a narrow minded perspective to make christian trance producers look narrow minded by calling their trance christian trance instead of human trance, and what?

taking my post serious much? as i said, i was merely fabricating a scenario, a biased one at that

I already did, I'm not surprised you can't see it. You're obviously not familiar with the concept of reductio ad absurdum

Didn't you know all of the biggest DJ's get their vocal samples from church

Posted by Barachem on Mar-11-2009 20:04:

@ hundred & woscar: Black in that sense isn't an ideology, it's a term to describe a broad spectrum of people's skin colors.
Reductio ad absurdum works only when your and my axioms are the same.
My proposition works because i have as axiom that music of a certain ideology is meant by it's author to convey that ideology.
No problems with reductio ad absurdum.

@ hundred: Lying for effect?
Being a troll?
Best to ignore you from now on in this thread.

After my "Why is Tiesto so big?" experience I predict you won't get a decent answer here at Bashaddict

Dude, genres are made to describe a collection of sounds and help with categorization. In that case, if "christian trance" doesn't have substantial musical (and not ideological or...religious rofl) differences from other types of trance, then it simply doesn't exist (or there is no need for a distinct existence).

If that was the case we would already have one million sub-sub-genres for any damn sub-genre out there since one could simply create a genre by just making a random national/ideological/gender/insert-random-cause statement. Now those sub-sub-genres wouldn't be very helpful in making one distinquish between trance and house would they?

Now son, stop drinking this fluorescent holly water because its not of god's damn!

I saw him post here before, but only found out about it until yesterday, lol.

Posted by EddieZilker on Mar-12-2009 02:42:

This thread reminds me of one that got started on Keyboard Magazine's forum. I had a hand in its descent into error-ridden bickering when I made the assertion that Christian music was predominantly made up of childish musical phrases which appealed to minds that were subject to influence of totalitarian thought-control.

That thread didn't last through the weekend before it got deleted.

that made my day ahaha

IMHO i think most Christian trance (that i have heard) is crap (although i dislike most trance now days) there are some decent tracks from Christians (not necessarily Christian tracks, but tracks made by Christians) like Joel Armstrong, Shiloh, Andy Hunter, Stryke, and Topher Jones though.

Nope, and honestly i don't care anymore.

@ PETRAN: I see part of your point.
Well, let's make people here HAPPY by calling it trance made by christians.
That finally ok?
Can the trance unicorns finally stop mauling me?

Hhmmmm...
I posted this track before in the production section and got one positive critique with some tips for improvement.
Would you be so kind as to post there what's bothering you about it?

But see, trolling isn't productive, it helps in getting threads closed.

I agree.
What makes me sad is that many christian producers want to emulate the "current" mainstream trance sound and feel instead of venturing into new and innovative territory.
Add to that most trance made by christians tends to lag behind current trance by one or two years, i'm speaking out of experience now, and that much of it is still relatively simpler and more archaic, it is no wonder much of it isn't appealing to the trance connoisseur.

Anyway, i think people have crapped up this thread too much.
Maybe best to let it die slowly.

Posted by RebeL9 on Mar-12-2009 08:37:

who the fuck cares if the tranz is produced by a christian, muslim, sikh or hindu? Must be the mos stupid thing to care about.
