So, there I am at lunch with her and her baby... watching the circus that appears to be parenthood. I saw my friend all "amazed" and "wowed" at every little motion and/or sound the baby would make, and in my head I was saying, "I don't get it. That baby is just wriggling around with no control of its body... where's the amazement?" Then she would talk to it as if she was having a conversation with someone who truly undertsands what is being said. Again, I'm there thinking, "Ugh... how boring that must be. You know the kid doesn't know what you're talking about. Why are you wasting your time?" I know you have to communicate with them of course, but I feel stupid talking to babies and kids who obviously don't know what I'm saying... which is part of the reason I can't stand to be around them.

Now you know how the rest of us feel when we have to read your posts in the PDD.

DO HO HO!

No, I'm just kidding, or am I?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Many infants in the animal kingdom are specifically evolved to elicit feelings of sympathy, just as adults are programmed to be receptive to such devices. It is far more conducive to survival, therefore it's a trait I don't see being phased out anytime soon.

I think most people eventually learn the wisdom and worth of seeing something grow and learn and develop in life.

I, myself, do not want children, but some of them are quite tolerable to be around at times if you give them a chance. I still hold that children are almost always the result of their parents or otherwise upbringing though, so if you find children to be irritating or unbearable, it is because their parents are probably miserable pieces of shit.

Ditto, and I'm a girl. I just...hold and am like "Okay...I held it, take it please."

They gross me out hardcore, especially when they start drooling.

I don't think they're funny, cute, or special.

I avoid them because I cannot summon a sufficient display of feigned awe and I end up offending the parents.

didn't realize you were such a bitch

i don't know if some of you are just taking the piss, but wtf is wrong with you all?!! does the miracle of life have no meaning to you?! you have to ignore some of the annoying habits to allow for the deeper meaning to come through. and i'm not even talking religion here...

such assholes on this board

ps. I EFFING LOVE BABIES!!!!!

I fucking hate babies, children and all things related.

Posted by Damerchi on Mar-11-2009 22:02:

When I look at babies, I am instantly overwhelmed with compassion. I know that these lil buggers are going to encounter tremendous suffering in this life. I look at the child and realize that it is going to be heavily molded by the environment it's raised in, then be personally held accountable for negative traits picked up in said environment when it reaches an old enough age. An environment it didn't choose mind you. It's really a mean twisted joke(life) depending on how you look at it.

Imagine Angelina caught the eye of another girl in the orphanage. do you realize how such a trivial event can have a collassal impact on the life experience of these 2 orphans. One is a wealthy hollywood insider and the other will live in a state of continous struggle- all based on the irrational decisive factor of Mrs. Jolie's emotions.

I am usually not uncomfortable around babies, but depending on who their parents are, i tend to trip out as i play out this baby's life in my head, and how nurture(or lack thereof) will play it's part.

I'd have to agree with Fayraree that many posts have been coming off as cold to be honest. I can't blame you guys for being honest with how you feel however.

we waz all babies at a point

Not everyone thinks a drooling, wiggling pile of flesh that is akin to a pet at that age (but more demanding and less rewarding) is cute.

Nope

No I don't

My god could kick your god's ass.

Posted by Aortik on Mar-11-2009 22:06:

I'd much rather sound cold than totally hot for children like some of you.

Posted by chimera66 on Mar-11-2009 22:38:

i do have to agree with fahad a bit here, how can people be so cold to children? in the grand scheme of things we should all have some need to pass along our genes at the very least. i don't know i personally think the little buggers are wonderful...although i do hope those of you who don't like kids don't become parents. nothing i hate more than a bad parent...you know people who have kids because they think that's what you are "supposed" to do.

Posted by Slylee on Mar-11-2009 22:40:

i'm pretty sure this is something that all people who have no babies can agree on...but then later on when we do have babies, we'll get it lol

that sounds so gross. breast feeding is nature but it makes me think that the woman doing it must totally feel like a cow...literally

lol the one abt drinking breast milk (and then the chocolate milk came to me after )...lol yeah kel's are ginormous but i like the shape of yours too...

Posted by chimera66 on Mar-11-2009 22:52:

ehhhhh either way women breast feeding or specifically milking themselves makes me uncomfortable. like the other day this woman i work with was just pumping away in the ladies restroom. the pump was making all types of noises and i was briefly talking to her trying to pretend it didn't weird me out.

Posted by lcid on Mar-11-2009 22:52:

i always pretend to be interested and amazed around babies that came from people i know because i don't want them to take it personally.

i dunno, i feel about kids the same way i feel about dogs. most of them are scary and disgusting, but every once in a while you meet the rare awesome one that just makes you twinkle with adoration.

and maybe the cow must totally feel like a woman!
