I'm holding off just because your issue with the buzzing noise -

Is the Audio4 usable with Ableton - or - world I need to get a different interface for Live?

what's the difference between PRO and DUO?

Posted by tintin11 on Apr-15-2009 01:57:

IMO I wouldn't let one users trouble shooting stop me from purchasing an item...

Audio4 is usable with ableton. You won't be able to run both live and traktor though with the audio4, you can with the audio8.

Go to NI's site, they have a lovely little chart with there traktor lineup clearly showing what duo is lacking from the pro.

Should I rewire the turntable metal hook to the audio 4 box, or should keep the audio 4 box away as much as possible?

ground it to the audio 4, if that doesn't work then get a ground loop isolator or lift the ground with a 2 -> 3 prong adapter. the last ones kinda risky though.

IM considering buying this.

I would like to use this with my current cd player/mixer combo (2 numark and pioneer djm600)

Should i just get the Duo scratch package that comes with both vinyl and cd?

Scratch comes with Vinyl and Cd's. Whether you have one or the other doesn't matter.

ground loop solved.

I was a bit skeptical because the cheap things from radio shack might ruin the quality of music. Nope, works just fine with a bit of adjustment.

Yep, they're pretty sweet. I use them to get rid of the ground loop when running Torq.

Don't know about CDJ200s but I can do it on CDJ1000s. Just practice.

Man, seeing all these posts about digital stuff actually makes me feel quite old especially since I celebrate a quarter of a century as a DJ this year. Freaky huh! Time well spent I might add.

Actually guys, users from Traktor Scratch Duo can do a upgrade software to Traktor Scratch Pro for 100 USD.

Why would you want to do that? Well 20 efxs instead of 6 and varies style of filters. Well since users are still on Audio4 box, it may not be a right move because you are still limited to two decks. But what I am curious to find if still will sync to Ableton Live or Pro Tools or Reason..

Posted by tintin11 on Apr-23-2009 05:25:

I didn't want to be limited to the 6 fx and 2 decks so I got the pro. Should be in a week or two .

PS.

IMHO it's plain stupid when people video tape themselves opening a box of whatever the fuck you may have purchased. How more materialistic can you be lol. Sorry for being blunt, but I had to.

Posted by Ryan0751 on Apr-23-2009 10:22:

Well yes and no. If you switch to internal mode, you can use all four decks with audio 4 just fine.

If you don't want to do that, you can set the second pair of decks to output on the same channels as the first two, using them sort of as samplers.

Hopefully N.I. will re-enable using internal mixer controls even when the external mixer mode is being used. This used to work in Traktor 3, but was disabled in Pro. For example, I'd like to be able to use Traktor Pro's EQ kills sometimes since my mixer doesn't have them.

well this means you cant use your time-coded CDs/vinyl and only a midi-controller/mouse/keyboard right?

Posted by Ryan0751 on Apr-23-2009 17:51:

Right, you only have 2 discreet timecode control surfaces.

Traktor does allow you to assign a timecode input to more than one deck, however. So you could cue something up with timecode, switch the deck to internal (which wouldn't stop play back), then use timecode on the other deck.

Again, you'd only have 2 ins and outs though.

how is it? i'm debating on getting the pro version. though I dont really know if i'll be making use of the 20 different effects or even the 4 deck part. although thats the main attraction for me.

Posted by limin_li on May-04-2009 00:22:

20 efxs are absolutely amazing. 4 decks mixing is for the techno djs eg carl cox and richie hawtin, however can be mixed with progressive house as well. Personally I never tried. The other two great things are recording and midi clock. Right now I am very close to sync TSP to Reason v4. Soon I am going to sync TSP to Ableton Live 8 or 7 LE whichever supports my cash in my pocket.

What exactly do you need help with?

i opted for serato.

i like it too, i should have went "digital" a while back.

Posted by staks on Jun-12-2009 10:09:

So I have everything I need except for the DVS and a mixer.

I have the link to order it in favorites so that is basically done...

Now it's a matter of finding a good mixer to do the job with it! I can't wait. :O :O :O

An Allen & Heath is a bit too expensive.

How does the beatmatching work with Traktor? I've never used it but it looks like the beatmatching is being done by the software.
