So you wouldn't do movie soundtracks if you were offered??, hell doing a film soundtracks puts you up with the big boys
His Album is good, it's not just one style of music, which is a definate good thing, cos thats what Oakies about, but as the Singles from Bunkka are released they'res gonna be some remixes that will float your boat. I'm still caning the trailer trash mix of Ready Steady Go..top tune

music varied in different countries... example...... german techno and italian techno.... 2 differnt sounds. but they still classed as techno. lets say that perhaps.. picotto opened italys eyes to techno.... 5 years later than it was intriduced to germany.. picotto may have listened to the german techno, and added his own flavour to it.. and turned it into italian techno.

the way i see it... you can either be a trend setter, or a trend follower.... oakie. (even tho i dont like him). is a trend setter.. he brought the scene to us.. and you should be thankful for that... he has brought his own taste of trance and gave us his own vision of how trance/dance music should be. Like it or not. hes doing a damn fine job.. and just because he aint your favourite DJ, doesnt give you the right to slag him off.......

..... i think PvD is wank.. but i dont slag hi off all the time, just deal with it!

oh, and btw..... im not sure if you noticed that not many people like you on this board, so why dont you save your opinions for the lapdogs on the GC board.. where no-one knows shit, and get your apraisals from there

oakey rules, have you seen him live Twig? he kicks ass!

Posted by Twig on Jun-17-2002 22:26:

hahaha

as if i come on here to 'be liked' by a bunch of idiots

no

a few of us actually just come on to entertain ourselves... and the vast majority of you lot duly oblige every day of the week!

i do love people who dont know anything about the music they claim to be 'addict'ed to LOL

Oakey is a poor dj

not shit

but poor and the most over rated in the world.

however he is the best at what he does, making the $$$$$$$

erm

oakey copied the style of Cosmic Baby for years!!

i agree he has done his bit

but 'his bit' is very little!

/me is hearing Paul Oakenfold live @ Lotherton Hall...
Over-rated my ass
I know what I like, and thats pretty much every Oakie track I've ever heard (with exception to 'bites da dust'..too much weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed)
But it's you thats dissing him, so what have you contributed to the dance scene in the past 20 years?? apart from ill founded opinions??

He's got real talent at what he does, and succeeds at whatever he tries his hand at next, and because he changes his style so often, u never get bored of him

and of course

this would be why 60% of an Oakey set today would be indentical to an Oakey set from 1998

Oakey is the best at what he does.. $$$ most commercialy succesful DJ in the world.

hes got you lot sucked in!

bites da dust is James Holden yeh

great argument

compare oakey with me.

but if thats what you like thats what you like...

i like a bit of variety and a dj who can actually mix..

still

each to their own!

erm.... he is a poor DJ, but he is good at making monney.... hmm. am i the only one who see's a problem with this comment?.... ya know the reason why he makes money?..... because people love his werk, because he is a great DJ and a great producer. that is the silliest comment ive heard this year.

I admit, i dont like oakey, but i can appreciate good werk when i hear it, and i think that that is one thing that you need to learn to do my friend... dont slag off stuff just beause you dont like it... be critical of sumthing because it deserves criticism. So for now, why dont you do yourself a favour and learn about differnt styles of dance/trance music.. and then come back and give me/us a decent argument about sumthing that is werth arguing about. your opinion and the truth are 2 different things... alls we are seeing right now are your opinions... so please dont argue about things that you have no justification for.

oh,, and btw... what a shit reply.... see, you really do not know what your talking about, because you didnt give me a constructive answer. so fuck off trying to get on peoples nerves.. cos it will only last for so long until you are banned

Ummm..No.If that was the case, everyone would still love him because of his '98-'99 trance style. And if that was the case,we wouldn't be having this debate at all.I'll even post a set tracklisting of recent to prove you wrong:

Paul Oakenfold - Presents In The Mix 31.03.02

Radiohead - Everythings In Its Right Place (Hybrid Remix) (White Label)
Scumfrog vs David Bowie - Loving The Alien (Positiva)
Leama - Melodica (Leama's Space Mix) (Platipus)
Aria - Green Eyes
Praha - Kala Chant Pt. 2
Mike Vandenberg - My Life
Alter Ego feat. Deajay - Don't Rush Me
Laidback - Don't Stop
Leuroj - Warriors (Breaks Mix)
SubHQ - The Abyss (Original Mix) (Acetate Ltd.)
Blame - Music Take You (John B Remix)
Deep Head Pass - Machine
Dot Allison - Substance (Felix Da Housecat Remix) (Mantra)
Madonna - Impressive Instant (Deep Dish Remix) (Maverick)

its ok Twig one day u will gain a friend...

he did it to Tiesto now to oakey...LOL

what a loser....

I dunno where this is going...people are arguing whether Oakie sold out or not, and now they are debating his skill.
For those of you denying his skill, I dunno how far up your own conceited asses you've got your heads up. He wouldn't be where he is right now if it weren't for his talent. You CAN'T deny that, and 99% of you Oakie haters on this thread know that, but continue to deny that because you choose to either not give him the proper respect that he deserves even though you know you shuold, or you just cant stand the fact that the man is successfull. Unless you've been hit in the head with a brick many times, I don't see the logic in saying Oakie has no talent.
Has far as being overrated, yes, there has been times where Oakenfold hit his high points when he should'nt have...but that doesn't make him overrated. His success stemmed from his skills, and his place in music is the result of his success. Rather than being overrated, I'd say he gets the spotlight a little excessively...
IMO, I think Oakey is a fantastic DJ...his sets from the 99 and 2000 seasons were off the hook, and his live performances are one of a kind. Not to mention his Perfecto label signs quality artists, and his CD's, while repetitive at times, knows how to set moods and atmospheres.
Give the man the respect that he deserves. You don't have to like him. But you should at least respect him.

He's not shit, he's good. He can mix, better than you, and better than most other popular DJ's, in the industry respect for this guy is incredible, and you don't get the respect for being shit. You also don't get voted best DJ in the world by your fellow professionals, and stay in the top 10 for the next 3 years. You obviously have no clue what your talking about

it is VERY obvious he only likes PVD and Sven Vath ..nothing wrong with that..but they play the same tracks over and over like every other DJ does
