someone want to explain to me why i cant make a code myself and how these guys are able to?

actually i know with the blackberries (all of them) you download a program and do that combination sequence it gives you access to a hidden menu to do it based on time of day, forgot what it was called.

im assuming these companies have "friends" that work in providers and leak them the tools / guides on how to provide codes?

idk how this shit works.

That's to access the engineering menu. To access the unlock options it varies by model, but its usually accessible by pressing "MEPD2". The unlock code is tied directly to the IMEI. I'd be really interested to know how the whole code generation/accessibility works as well.

Hold on to your panties ladies ...

I'll post it up this weekend, gotta find that one damn word file I have backed up somewhere.

Regarding IMEI Unlock

Each IMEI is unlocked by one unique code, based on your hardware.

The manufactures & carriers have access to this database. The 3rd party shop use these unlocking boxes that's hooked up to a computer and then they hook up to your phone and brute forces the code within seconds with some type of software.

The process takes less then 30 secs in person, the shops that offer "within 24 hrs" are the resellers. I've seen it live at PMALL with the one official unlocking store, which all the shops bring their phones in for unlocking.

Took you that long to find it Good Job.

That's one of them on my list, they were talking about this site on RFD and HoFo for a while. I briefly looked at it ....

I can validate this site is safe, many of them that offer free unlocking are a bunch of crooks. They claim free unlocking, collect a shit load of IMEIs and resell them to ppl who clone them.

Once they're cloned, they place them in phones that are blacklisted in whatever countries. Which is federal crime, just like cloning sim cards.

Damn this dude ended his promo, it was free for a while

Do you know any for non BB or iphones?

Posted by E2EK1EL on Apr-29-2011 03:08:

That list I have somewhere has 3 or 4 urls I've collected 2 years ago. They all stated they were free unlocking services.

Re: iPhone unlock, there's only 3 ways ... 1-2 are pretty much impossible now.

Jailbroken w/ baseband 01.59.00 and unlock with ultrasnow. This was the first ver shipped to Canada w/ iOS 4.0.1 in July.

Remote IMEI via iTunes w/ Apple's Server, this service stopped and cost about $150 usd.

Gevey Sim, a proxy sim that piggybacks on to a sim and uses the gsm emergency 112 calling to unlock phone for any carrier.

(These methods are re: the iPhone 4)

In that case, are you aware of any specific ebay stores that are reputable to use? I don't really care about paying 99 cents. lol

Posted by E2EK1EL on Apr-29-2011 12:15:

Oh man ... It's been so long since I've used a eBay unlockers. I use to use this guy named BlowFish, but he got got banned from eBay due to not flowing the rules of physically shipping the codes.

He had 40,000 feesbacks w/ 99.9% positive rating.

Just find someone who has 1000+ w/ highest rating.

This guy seems legit from BC

I assume you're still unlocking the Nokia E71, since this phone wasn't massively sold ... the unlock code is a bit higher.

Yes, that's correct, I'm still unlocking the Nokia E71. TBH I don't really care if I have to pay a few bucks for it. $20 is a little steep though as I'd only be using it for a month.

Thanks for the suggestions John

it worked.. quick turnaround and good service too. I recommend going with this seller if you're looking for an unlock code. (iPhones not included)

Did a text box pop up when you made your purchase? I confirmed the payment and printed out the payment summary but nothing popped up. So I just clicked on "contact the seller" and sent them the information they required.

How did it work for you?

Check your inbox that is reg. to your paypal account. A lot of times, it's sitting in the junk folder too.

I got it to work. I was just confused b/c it said that after you pay a text box will pop up. One didn't, so I just "contacted the seller" with the info that he needed. I got an email a little while after and it worked! I tried my formerly Rogers phone with a Fido and Telus sim card. I would definitely approve!

Posted by smuncky on May-14-2011 18:28:

is $20 the average price to unlock a telus phone?
