I beg to differ. Past few times either J00F or CL have been here, the nights were pretty unsuccessful. J00F played at Love and it was empty by 330 in the morning, unfortunately, while CL doesn't exactly sell out Webster Hall the one or two times he's played there, not to mention Rebel which had maybe 100 people by the time he got on... Infected Mushroom is one of those groups that will always draw a huge amount of people... But like you and I said, that comes at a very very steep price, you're pretty much booking a superstar EDM act as popular as the Tiesto's and Armin's, and if this guy has that sorta money, I don't know why he's not doing something in NYC

I wasn't referring to the draw, but the quality/style of music. Of course there would also have to be other artists on the bill as well.
Lately rave's are booking CL so he really can't be charging that much, prob same with J00f. Didn't catch him when he was here but I did catch CL.

Oh yeah, definitely, they're both amazing DJs, especially J00F, one of my favs, even nowadays though he's a bit quiet...

Far from it, man... You're talking about like 3500$ vs. 20,000$ between the two of them... flying in one guy vs. flying in 4 band members and stage equipment.

The difference is (unfortunately) J00F has maybe 100 good fans in New York while Infected has thousands.

Possible headliners for the Lake Stage (Friday / Saturday)

What do you guys think of Infected Mushroom?

Ben

i've seen both on several separate occasions and enjoyed both shows. saw BOTH play the same night at Guvernment, and when comparing them side by side, would have to say i enjoyed Astral much more.

as for the post a few people me about j00f's following, i would say he would still be my choice over AP and IM... but yeah, i guess if you are trying to draw a big crowd you might want to go with AP or IM.

Well guys, It's my job (with the help of a Corporate CEO spokes person) to sell the sponsorships.

I have to create a business model that is appealing to them. You can not bank of "Exposure" sponsorships. Ads aren't good enough. They need something serious...

Like, they let us "borrow" $50,000 in solar panels to power a small stage during the day (Publicity Stunt)

Those panels would then be donated to "Habitat for Humanity"..

So, they get the Advertising and their money is written off as a donation, not an advertising expense.

We show that we are being supported by big companies & get to use their product as a publicity stunt.. Plus, people know that our event is donating all of the panels to the poor!

So, when finding sponsors, it has to be win-win if you want to score.

Once you have the appearance that the other big companies think its a great idea, they all jump on board. It's the same as going to venture capitalists for money.

Bear Mountain is 30 minutes south. This event would be like that.

Thanks Again!
Ben

Hrm... when I read the first post I initially thought "what is this guy babbling about" but then I read on and you seem to have a pretty good idea what you're doing.

I think one of your best bets is to mix a few genres of music, house, trance, techno, and try to find a bunch of mid-level DJ's that have not played in New York or anywhere close before. This way you get all those house heads who finally get to see that one house DJ they haven't had a chance, all the trance heads, techno heads, you get my point.

I would keep away from dubstep and stuff that varies from the standard 4/4 EDM, I feel like the whole multiple genre rave scene is gone. People who like trance don't wanna be around a buncha DnB listening ruffians and vice versa. Too much variation in the DJ's might turn people off.

Even if Tiesto is playing the same night (honestly, I still call bullshit on that) I think a lot of people have seen him plenty of times and would rather go out to something where they get the opportunity to see a handful of DJ's that have never played here before.

I wish you luck, you sound like you've got a good head on your shoulders, and I see no reason why I wouldn't come out for something like this.

And if there's a NYTA stage/party I wanna plaaayy

Hey guys,

I'm back from my trip and other adventures.

I posted some picts of the place that I have secured (First Page).

The house you see in the aerial view is the owners, so no worries...

I have already communicated with the Board of Health & Town Planning Board.. no problems there.

I am now involved in working with partners, sponsors and other funding options.

I may have some new ideas that I will run by you. In the meantime, I encourage any input and ideas for entertainment.

48 hour party!

Ben

I also plan on throwing a few large parties in the top field this summer prior. They will allow me to work out some kinks and get an idea of what works in this area and at this place. Stay tuned!

You're right.

So, can you guys think of 2 headliners and a few smaller acts that haven't saturated NY already?

If we want to "sell" the event on it's "package", than it has to be original and offer something new. We need a "hook"

Thanks again!
Ben
