Something I wouldn't give 2 shits about if I were you, is ram. You can get it MUCH cheaper than they can provide it to you for. So if it has everything you want but only 2gb of ram, it really shouldn't be an issue. It is very easy to upgrade ram too usually.

OCZ 4gb (2x2gb) is $50 on Newegg.

Also, do the credit thing with Sony, just to get that shit for cheaper, and then pay it off immediately.

This is the single largest reason why laptops at $1000 blow ass. Piece of shit screens. 1440x900 on a 17" screen!? Seriously!?

PS: that is not for sale.

Unfortunately, that is going to be the max on a 14inch screen. 15" can do 1680x1050, but finding that will be hard as fuck and probably quite expensive.

alright, macbook sold. Now pending that this hosebag's check doesn't bounce, I've narrowed it down to two:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16834220518

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16834152086

pretty much the same specs, the msi has some alarming reviews though. But it looks better than the Asus.

I still think you should go for the sony. Get the CC just to get the damn discount, and then pay that shit off right away. Work the fucking system dude.

While both of those seem alright, they both have issues.

The MSI seems to need a BIOS update from the get go. Which, while it sounds major, it happens. It also has some weird problem where all input from mouse/kb/buttons/etc stop working, which is either a bad mobo, or again, a bad BIOS.

The rest of the complaints on this unit are bullshit. Stupid fucking people being picky as all hell.

The Asus, the biggest complaint seems minor, but small keyboards = carpel tunnel. I have this shit already, and fuck does it hurt. large keyboard is so much better.

Finally wound up getting a Vaio.

I got the CS series in matte black

2.4ghz core2duo
4gigs 800mhz RAM
320gig 5400rpm hd
14.1" screen
dvd/rw
and I'm guessing intel gma graphics

for $969, 1028 after taxes.

The only thing I noticed I won't like is the trackpad, but I have a portable mouse so whatever.

I'm also not a fan of the thing taking a week to get here when Apple does next-day shipping :/

Oh well, I'm stoked.

Ehh yeah probably GMA. Which sucks ass.

The other stuff, is whatever. Screen is hopefully better than those others.

edit//can you cancel your order? Where did you buy it? You can get an FW series for $30 more before taxes as I have configured it. I skipped the ram upgrade, but upgraded CPU to 2.4 and hd to 320. Buy the ram after the fact. $40 for 4gb vs $100 for 4gb. You can sell the 2gb that it currently has for $20 and you have then gotten more ram for $20 +tax. This is direct from Sony.

The FW has dedicated graphics and a 16.4" screen.
