Deep House?

Wow have definitions changed!

A lot of it sounds like regular house to me. Deep house is more like Ten City, Kerry Chandler, and just about anything that would have been played at the paradise garage.

I dont care what you call it... im glad the funk and soul is back in house music. Its been a long time coming!!

Oh oh, I know!

It's good when you want to go out and dance and have fun, as opposed to getting mashed to the tits and waving your arms around like a moron.

P.S. To everyone else who is not on crack, the DSOH set from Baris Bergiten (whoever he is) was superb.

P.P.S. It's also real deep house, Jay.

DSoH #295 - Baris Bergiten

You have to register to download the guest mix (2nd hour) but it's free, and there's a lot of good music on that site, so it seemed silly to upload my own copy somewhere.

I'm still loving this thread guys! Over the past year I've realized that some of the best deep house is coming out of Germany....of all fucking places eh?! I thought Germany was just about techno. Who knew...

I know I mentioned earlier in the thread that I'm a fan of Manuel Tur & Dplay (both German of course), but you should really check out the label they just started with Langenburg. It's called Mild Pitch. Check out their initial release on Beatport. Ribn composed their first release, and it's fucking siiiick!!!!

If you like that stuff, then please check out the Freerange Recordings Podcast as they throw down mucho deepness. The latest episode is with Jimpster (of course) and guest, DJ Yellow.

germany has been totally on point for what i would have normally called american house, for the past year or so. just really solid stuff, and eclipsing much of the US output imo.

that new dj yellow on freerange is great.

can't wait to hear some new ish from jimpster when he's in town!

well he runs Poussez, which primarily is a well known deep house label, but just what he releases tends to depend on who he's working with. when he does stuff with Hitech2(as that freerange release is), its almost always been deep, but often on his own, it tends to straddle that line with techy as well.

PQM is phenomenal.. very unique grooves.

Heres one of my favorites..

He's pretty versatile that's for sure. And making gold records at the moment imo!
