How were plans ruined if someone wasn't stuck in traffic, exactly?

A few weeks ago while i was working at one of my jobs on Spadina & Queen, I went downstairs to get something to eat at McDonald's. After I ordered my food, I noticed yelling and people crowding in front of McDonald's. I went outside to check out what was going on and I saw 4 guys trying to rob this one individual. There was a crowd of at least 6 or 7 people and what shocked me was, NOBODY was doing anything, not even calling the cops all they did was stand and watch. So I came in and immediately one of the guys came up to me and got all confrontational and I stood there waiting for him to do something and eventually all of them attacked me and I managed to stand my ground and help defend this one guy from being robbed. They ripped my armani shirt and ran away and I was taunting them to come back but they were drunk and wanted to get out of the area because they thought the cops were going to come soon.

After they ran off I talked to the guy who almost got robbed and told me his side of the story. He was carrying his suit and a bunch of guys came from behind and tried to take his knapsack off and he fought back. This city is full of pussies, I'm not pointing fingers to anyone on this board, but when I saw that and nobody trying to help, I knew I had to help because I've been in that situation before and nobody deserves to be beaten up on the streets with the public just watching.

Now me and this guy are friends and he's really glad I helped him, it just felt right to do.

lol i can't believe no one commented on this yet
that was really nice of you to step in man, i'd say 95% of people would not do anything in this situation

Well if I'm understanding what happened to her correctly, the shop didn't "intentionally" screw her hood up, they did it by accident performing an etest.

But back to my point, it is the same. She had her day disrupted because of someone else, and you say it's totally fine to be annoyed by it. 1000 people disrupted my day along with countless others, but we're being babies. Honestly, give your head a shake.

I was driving to drop off a quote for a job, it was time sensitive and I missed the deadline resulting in 2 guys that work for me losing out on money. Thats how.

christ, get some fucking perspective people. if these are your biggest problem and you are crying, oh woe is me. my life sucks, then wow, you really need to look around you.

You are kind of right, but on the other hand, you are also not - it can be very painful for some people to get treated the way I did by life - I was always kind and supportive of my ex, he was not. His eye-doctor told him last year that he might have diabetes, so he went to get tested for it and before he got the results, he was all nervous and scared. So I tried to support him, telling him, "don't worry, if you have to go on a diet, I'll go too, just so that you don't have to do it alone. It'll be fine." And I would have done it too if the need arose. Turned out he didn't have it. When I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem recently (among other things, I found out I have a tumor), he never said even "take care of yourself, I hope you will be well". Nothing. And this is just one example. During our relationship, he frequently criticized and chastised me for complete nonsense, so much so that I became nervous and afraid to even state my opinion (among other things, he painted me as a person with bad character because I didn't like his smoking, or to correct myself, I didn't like him smoking right before we were to meet or when we were together). Sorry, I know I may sound like I am whining, but it can make one really feel sad and miserable, knowing you were caring about and compassionate towards someone who really didn't give a shit about you or your well-being. I feel like I have been emotionally exploited and that makes me feel bitter... I feel like he is laughing at me when he thinks how he could just use me because I was such a naive and trusting fool.

I don't know if you were addressing me also by your post, but it felt kinda good to be able to talk myself out, even though I don't like to talk about these private things on a public message board... It's really good if people have someone who cares about them and supports them, then even life's troubles seem to go by easier.

i have no problem with the venting. its all the people in here saying shit like...i keep waiting for something good to happen to me...my life is horrible.

No, this situation sucks, and yes, Margs, it does suck. as does getting cheated on, or failing a paper, or getting a speeding ticket or getting stuck in traffic..whatever, but your life does not suck. you are one of the luckiest people in the world. millions of people would trade anything to have your life. be more grateful...or at least more aware that your problem is actually very very minor compared to what COULD be going wrong in your life, and what is going wrong in so many other peoples lives. fuck this morning i got an email from my sister. a little girl died in her care yesterday because she didn't have enough to eat. all she needed was to be FED.
fuck, sorry. i know i'm ranting, but i'm tired and my sister is torn up over it and made me really sad.

Maybe people didn't call the cops cause they were scared those guys fighting would have turned it against them... Of course, it was not right and it was good of him to come and help the guy though. Maybe it's just that most of the people have fear of engaging in direct physical confrontation. I know I would be scared to in that situation.

When I was back home a couple of years ago, there was this drunken girl I came upon on a not very frequented street in the "downtown" of my city at around 3 p.m. one sunny Saturday afternoon. She was sitting in rambles of the construction of some old building and saw me approaching from the distance as the only person on that street. She asked me how to get to the bus depot, and I told her where it is and the she held out her hand so I helped her to get up and she kept holding my hand, stumbling along on the street. She had an open bleeding (but not dripping) wound on her forehead and was stumbling along terribly, so much so that I thought that she must have injured her ankle or something... you could clearly tell she drank alcohol, maybe she took some drugs too. She repeatedly kept asking me for the directions to the bus depot, even though I already told her how to get there (she seemed a bit disoriented and I saw she had no wallet at all in her purse too, so most likely no money for a ticket), and we were stumbling along on the street together, I was holding her hand to help her walk... at one point, I thought she was gonna land nose flat onto the sidewalk. Some people saw us too, but no one came to offer any help or ask if we are okay... turned out she was probably a prostitute, but I couldn't tell that at first, cause she looked very young (like me), and even though she was dressed in a very short mini-skirt and tight T-shirt, it was summer, and some girls dress that way in the summer... When I told my grandma later how people saw us and nobody came to offer help or ask if we're okay, she said that they must have thought that I was the same... lol that thought really makes me chuckle rather than anything else, but at the time, I was a bit nervous, as I wasn't sure that I'd be able to handle (help) her all alone and I felt sorry for her. Thinking about it though, I guess those other people who saw us really had no obligation to help, and they probably thought that I was taking care of her myself, that she may be my sister or friend, so I can't blame them much.

That's true, but then think about why do some people who live in this abundant and plentiful Western society and who seemingly have everything (as you say), still end up committing suicide? Do you think that their problems (whether or not you can objectively label them as sufficiently serious and severe) have not seemed to them so difficult to bear and their situation so desperate that they could not take it any longer and mistakenly saw suicide as the only way out? If you tell someone who is depressive and sad "think about how lucky you are, you have everything you need compared to other people in the world", it might not help that person much. At least not when you use a condescending tone. ....

I actually know what it is like to be hungry, when I was not even fourteen years old, my family here in Canada were in dire financial circumstances and I went to school without breakfast, and sometimes stayed without food until the school day was over, believe me. And this was in a school where most of the kids' parents were doing well, so the other kids didn't go hungry. Not to say that my situation is at all as horrible as that of the little girl you mentioned of course.

So you were stuck in traffic?

The fact that it's all about money to you doesn't really help your cause eh?

i've been pissing blood for the past 3 days. all my friends are at the cottage, calling me and msging me at least twice every hour, asking to come pick me up . one of the people closest to my heart got her licence today and wants me to party with her.

and i cant do any of those things with them but i still have a huge ass grin on my face, knowing all is good, everybody is fine, having great time.

thank God for your health, your family's and your friends too and go have fun, its your b-day (happy b-day, may all your dreams come true).

all those things are minor inconveniences and, as much as it will sound like a fucking cliche, life is too fucking short to waste it on minor details like that.

Any moment where you aren't suffering, diseased, hungry, tired, or in general need is a moment of sheer bliss that so many others aren't in such a luxurious position to enjoy, and that's something that I'm keeping in mind more and more when I find myself being to "emo" about life circumstances.

That in itself is quite a work

they didnt intentionally fuck my car up, but they did intentionally lie about the fact that they did it and tried to make me feel dumb since i'm a girl and i wouldn't notice. plus they did intentionally not want to own up to their mistake and fix it.

lol. i understand your side, all i am doing is being dramatic. i am sorry that it offends you that i say my life sucks. but that's how i felt at the time i wrote the original post. i just wanted to reach out to people that may sometimes feel the same way.

even from your post i can tell that sometimes you feel that way.

any situation can be placed in a positive perspective. even your sisters situation can be. she has the opportunity to use her experience to help other kids and it could drive her to help many others which i am sure she does already. eventho the little girl passed away she has touched the lives of others to appreciate their lives.
