I didn't feel like I was at CiRCA. Felt like another world!

That Stairway To Heaven RMX is kickass

Finally got home from work and watched the vid...

That was pure kickass. Love it.

I don't think it was layered though. The Zeppelin was all at the same speed. The original's nowhere close to the same speed even within spans of 64beats: it's actually a bit unpredictable and random. There's no way even Tenaglia could mix that live while waving flashlights around *chuckle*

Still awesome awesome awesome. <3

A Tale of Fumasa:

Sunday night was pretty legendary for me. Circa had transformed into something completely different, encompassing a vibe I didn't think it was capable of. Hands down the best time I've had at the club. There was an abundance of pushy 'pretty' people, leaving little space to dance on the 2nd floor where we were jamming, but it was to be expected. When the rowdy drinkers left, Danny hadn't even started yet, which was awesome since we'd have no problems with dance space, enabling us to leave our mark with maximum jam damage. I could have easily reached the finish line of the marathon, but decided to leave shortly before 9 with fulfillment. The place was still moderately filled at that point; I wasn't expecting the turnout of real partiers. Like others have mentioned, the main floor was awesome towards the later half of the night. It felt like a Sonic party! In fact, I saw a lot of old regulars there.

I didn't spend enough time in the other rooms, but managed to experience an hour of so of the Ballroom. What I enjoy the most about this room is how isolated it is from the rest of the club, giving it the feel of another club entirely. The moment I walked in, after minutes I felt like I was at a party from the late 90s. Of course, the music was the main reason for this. I thoroughly enjoyed the old school sounds of chicago house. Loopity Goofs (or Babba Di Boo as I liked to call them) delivered. They played fairly well and warmed the place up for Derrick Carter. Carter was on par, and I was loving his set, but left shortly after he started.

My main focus for the night was to finally experience a Danny Tenaglia marathon set; spent most of the time in the mainroom. He didn't come on until after 2:30, but luckily Michelangelo played a great warmup set. This guy is an entertainer! His outfit was whack, and the many goofy hats he put on were funny. Big WTF! OH.. and I can't forget to mention the puppet show he put on with a bird while Danny was playing. He played a variety of sounds, including hard house, electro, tribal, and even some techno. It was pretty random, but he did a fair job of mixing it all. He dropped a bunch of older tunes, including some of my favs that Glaude used to play all the time:

Playgroup Feat. KC Flight - Front 2 Back (Switch Remix)
Sharon Phillips - Want 2 need 2 (Switch Dub)
Solid Groove And Sinden - Red Hot

as well as

Joey Beltram - The Scorpian

and also tune of the night for me.. one of my favourite tunes of 2008 and first time hearing it live:

H.O.S.H & Stimming - Radar

Wow! This tune is one of the grooviest tracks I've heard in a while with trippy elements and an awesome random church organ melody that randomly hits toward the middle..and car beeps. Beep Beep! lol.

Before Sunday, I'd only seen Danny Tenaglia twice: first time was a huge letdown, and the 2nd time was just a teaser. Not only did he deliver the goods, but he surpassed my high expectations. 3rd time's a charm A good percentage of his set was tribalicious inspired, which included a good handful of drummy classics. In one word.. Fumasa. Easily one of the best sets of the year for me as well one of the most memorable nights. At one point, I couldn't stop shaking my ass so much that I thought I was going to ping pong across the walls and ceiling... thank god for ceilings! Tenaglia was pretty funny up there as well, but I didn't pay too much attention to his remarks. The tunes spoke enough. When he dropped Need To Feel Loved I felt a warm sensation that brought me back to my very first party <3. He also teased me with his remix of Sweet Pussy Pauline's work this pussy, but it was the instrumental/dub version . My only complaint was that his mixing wasn't as smooth in some transitions, but he was playing a marathon set afterall, so some imperfections were to be expected.

I'm really impressed with how the night panned out, and Circa's unexpected ability to stay open later (I know it was the same thing last year, but still.)

That was one incredible night at Circa.

Danny blew my mind and it just wouldnt stop. The drums, the classic re-worked tunes (Thriller, Stairway..as mentioned before), and oh finally I saw the floodlights. I wanted a marathon, I wanted antics, I wanted amazing music I got it all. I felt Sonic yes. That is a nice way to describe it. I dont normally enjoy the main dance floor at Circa at all, but Sunday night/Monday morning I did. I dont know what more I can say.

When Danny started picking it up again around 8:20 or so I have not been that exhausted at a party in a long time. I then decided I couldnt take another round of Tenaglia and had to bow out. Ashamed yes but I got what I came for. Next time I stay with Danny till the end. I dont know if I can return to Circa unless Danny plays there, because those expectations that were surpassed probably wont be met again until, and if Danny returns to the club.
