Wewhooo....I'm good with that. Means Fido and Rogers are in for some competition. BOUT TIME!!!

In a perfect world, I'd be standing just outside of the Rogers HR door when Rogers Employees are given the bad new of lay-offs and waive bye-bye to all those rude, non-english speaking customer service reps. Though I've been lucky enough to have never been with Rogers, I know many who have been on hold forever and then been treated pretty bad.

Right......... ummm i work for Rogers in one of their centers. Rogers as company does not outsource any of their support it is in house like our main ceneters are in Kitchener, Toronto, Montreal, Burnaby, Moncton and Ottawa. We have no hold time in wireless rigth now i got about 2-3 min between calls so when you call in now you get an agent right away. So way to have no current info before you open your mouth thanks for coming out.

Her call probably got routed to the Rogers office on Dixie, north of the 407, in Brampton.

It's a beautiful office, as it's the Nortel's former HQ, and Rogers bought the facility for real cheap. I had the pleasure of hosting a training session there (I produced and currently manage the HP product e-procurement site on your intranet).

True and maybe false lol

True = no out sourcing
False (maybe) = wait time is dpeends on the day or night and especially which month it is. Sept is the ultra insane month for CSRs

This is true during the holyday season there is a wait but its the busy season for everyone, try finding a parking spot in a mall around xmas time. We are hiring 2500 extra reps this year based on our service levels from last xmas rush by the fall.

Ahem sketchbag...I never said you outsourced and I did say I don't use Rogers. Way to go for your reading skills.

If you don't like that there are people who are not big into Rogers then you better get used to it now. I personally don't like paying over inflated charges for cell time and since Rogers is the monopoly for this industry...then learn to take the good with the bad. Competition is what makes things fair and it's unfortunate for you that some will lose their jobs but that's life.

I wonder if they employ mostly Brampton residents there......

Well I said we don't outsource our center because you said we have no English speaking agents, I think you might have forgotten were you live. If you except for everyone to speak crystal clear English in a multicultural country like Canada it’s just not going to happen.

As for the rates I think there fair and competitive with the market. You can go to McDonalds and get a double cheeseburger for their value meal or you can go to a fine dining restaurant and get a steak. Were the steak, I prefer the steak myself.

Your absolutely right not everyone is going to like Rogers and that’s just the nature of the business I just wanted to help you be a little more informed that concerns like the ones you have stated have been brought up in the past and are being addressed all the time to help improve the service Rogers provides for its customers.

And competition is great it’s what gets us all our customers as we still are the number one provider in Canada.

While Rogers and I have had disagreements, I'll admit that of the MANY times that I've had to call DIG or ACC I've never really ever dealt with a language barrier whatsoever. Multicultural country or not, I expect the person on the other end to speak at least ONE of the two officially recognized languages in a clear and coherent manner and I've had ZERO issues with that and have rarely heard of issues like that when dealing with Rogers & their CSRs.

As for Rogers and their status as the "largest" provider, I honestly think it's less a matter of innovation and moreso capitalizing on a market where other corporations simply don't have the resources or infrastructure to challenge them. New equipment / hardware / handsets are almost ALWAYS developed for the GSM platform as that covers nearly 85 or 90% of your worldwide consumer market. With RCI being the only provider in Canada that uses that infrastructure, it gets first crack at "new" products. If you ask me, this makes the Rogers hype machine easier to fuel as they really don't have to fit / outbid for exclusivity on product, the latest and greatest is just low-hanging fruit to them as in most cases CDMA equipment is months (if not years) from being ready for primetime.

I honestly think once there's some VIABLE competition (IE a provider with the resources to take Rogers on directly - not just in terms of spectrum and coverage but financially) you'll start to see MUCH more consumer-centric ethos and business practice. What GlobalLive is supposedly doing with their text messaging / call display packs included in the rate plan is a great first step to generate this competition that I feel Canada so badly needs, all the providers and their customers will be all the better for it.

Meaning they are setting up their network and almost ready to roll out.

T-Mobile was the only one in the world to use the 1700 band, and now GlobalLive is on it too.

That's why there was a huge rumor about T-Mobile coming to Canada, but they backed off.

so i guess that it isnt going to be 1700 when they first roll out but maybe in the future?

What are you talking about here? it's confirmed to be the 1700 band freq, CRTC auctioned it off and they won

Posted by dEsidEL on May-27-2009 03:22:

how many quint-band devices actually exist out there?

I'm also wondering how well the signal will penetrate solid objects. I dreaded using Fido when they were a strictly 1900 Mhz network..
