Sadly thats how it panned out, but out of incompetence in the US intelligence agencies, not by any sort of master plan.

i find it much harder to believe that the U.S. would be "incompetent" to fend off an attack like that. lets not be naive here. we've seen deception on grand scales all throughout history.

I've accepted that my country was full of lies and deception during the 90s. our government stole from us, screwed us over and innocent people died so the rich could get richer. it's nothing new and the U.S. isn't exempt from it. only they do it in a subtler way.

i'm not really that into it, i don't really know what happened. i agree with the previous poster, that it most likely was real terrorists, and at most they let it happen. but then i again, thinking about what i just previously wrote, i don't think it's entirely impossible for the to of conceived the idea from the get-go.
