Droog played a pretty funky opening set, a lot more upbeat than I'm used to hearing from them in the mainroom. Lots of lost housey vocals and a nice subtle groove throughout their 2 hour set. Followed by a rather surprising live set from Damian Lazarus. After hearing bits of his album I wasn't sure how it would all translate into a full on live show at a club, most of it is pretty downtempo. But apparently [a]ppendics.shuffle assisted Damian with remixing some of his tracks specifically for a live show and the result was an absolute techno monster of a set chock full of creepy live vocals from Damian and Taxi Taxi. Words can't really express what his live show was like, you'll just have to wait for the pictures

Nico got on around 1.30am-2am and absolutely ROCKED the place. House, funky techno, some classics thrown in for good measure. A rock solid 2 hour set. I think he finished around 3 or 3.30, then it was time for the 6 deck 3x6

My thoughts exactly - I honestly was least stoked for Nic, but he earned a 10/10 with an amazing 2 hours - had that place eating out of his hands.
Lazarus... SO glad I got to see that - with the production of the club - the super sick visual work, the dancing animal people were all rad.. then the set.. my my my - I fuckInG loved it!!! huge beats to fill his unique tracks , and the vocals were all on point - 10/10
I felt the 3x6 set kinda got stale - a lot of similar chunks of music - an not sure if the laptop was laggin, but I highly doubt all 3 of them would screw up in the same manner - there were a few glitches that tossed a mix off here and there, but they quickly recoverd . .still fun. 7/10
Clovis: was good to meet you again - i chilled in honey for a few to hear you play and you got us all moving nicely -good shit!
Awesome night!

Had a lot of fun last Saturday. Nic's set was the best, in my opinion, although I only heard the tail end of Damian's performance. The ending with the three different DJ's didn't work out quite as well as everyone expected, it seems.

Matt Dear played his Audion track "look at the moon" around 4 something am and I went crazy.

Damian dropped Arcenciel which also sounded awesome in the big room.

Best night at avalon in a while.

I got in around 11ish and droog was blending Ekkohaus - Unsound ( original mix ) with Martinez - blue lagoon ( original mix ) I dont know which of the 3 did that but it got me on the dance floor in a sec

Lazarus was awesome but after 40 minutes of constant vocals it became somehow repetitive still good to hear... , I prefer the Lazo dj more than the live one.

Nic was great didn't hear his whole set because i was going back and forth from the main room to the honeylounge , really liked some of the stuff luke solomon played

The highlight of the night was def , Phillip + mathew and lazo. tune after tune , very high melodic and deep tech house , some banging tracks with african vocals that phillip dropped just made my night.

I give this night 2 big thumbs up ,very glad to see that everytime I come back to l.a. the techno scene just keeps getting better and better .
