The US release is sorta wack... they cut a bunch of episodes, killed some plot lines all together and made the lesbians into cousins, so as not to offend people...

I never really watched the series but my little brother was big into it. He would rent the original japanese movies with out subtitles from this asian video place in Seattle...

sailor moon was the 90's gateway drug to anime, just simple as that. now the 00's gateway drug is those hiayo mizayaki films and all the hentai.

i watched sm and the version shown on swedish tv was quite faithful to the original japanese version, no censorship at all iirc and the all the original names was used. but they stopped showing it after sailor moon r/second season since they discontinued the swedish dubs after that. i have seen a quarter of the third season/sailor moon s japanese version with english subs but i don't remember any of it. infact, i don't remember any of plots anymore beyond the substantial things and the charachters etc etc.

also, nou likes saturn because she's the emo one, i liked mercury the most.

Any stupid girl power anime shit is ridiculous. There's no way a grown person (male or female) should spend any time with that crap. It's so off the wall and childish it's absurd. I hate it.

Yea I dont think I've watched any Pretty Sammy since middle school...

I still would watch Tenchi Muyo (which Pretty Sammy is a spin off of) if I came across it on TV. I used to be in a Starseige/Tribes clan called House of Jurai, it was pretty cool, so it has a lot of memories to me. Also a couple of the tenchi movies are pretty good.

Tony, at least in the US, SM did start it, but mainly for girls and a lot of them never made the connection to anime since it was so heavily anglicized here. What really did it was Pokemon and then Dragonball Z. Both of those really blew up here (and everywhere) and got people into anime.

Now its more Naruto and the other shit they show on Cartoon Network... most kids dont make the anime connection now with shit like Yu-gi-oh and that other saturday morning crap. Thats a good thing, because those can barely be called cartoons.

Yeah the Tenchi movies were pretty sweet

The bottom one is Strike Angels, not sure what the top one is...

A friend I knew from work said it had a pretty big lolicon bent to it lol... like lots of panty shots and other various fanservice of the girls.
