Cool. I have never known anyone who just got it. All the people I know that have had it, got it before I knew them.

As soon as I can afford it, I'm getting LASIK. They don't put you to sleep do they? How do you keep your eyes open?

They can't put you to sleep. They hold your eyes open with a device.

Yeah, if you were put to sleep, the procedure would be completely different, and probably not as quick or effective. Honestly, it's not that hard, your eyes are totally numb and lids are taped down so all you have to do is look at a blinking red light. During the procedure, your vision is pretty fucked, especially when they lift the flap or when they put the vacuum on your eye. The difference comes in a few hours when your vision becomes much clearer.

Nicee. So how much did it cost you guys?

Posted by ziptnf on May-28-2009 17:50:

$4300, but I have a lifetime warranty and can go get it fixed if anything happens (god forbid...). Honestly, I wouldn't trust the commercials that tout cheap ass prices, if you want something reliable, do some research on local practices and look into reviews from it. It may be a tad more expensive, but it will be worth it.

Actually, no. Insurance covered the exam that prepared me for it, but since it's an "elective" surgery, all costs have to come out of pocket.

Probably bc the eye glass makers want people to be perpetually deficient in vision.

For those in Canada, any idea what it costs?

VSP covers 15% of the total cost.

Probably similar, but I don't honestly know. Being that the equipment is probably a bit more expensive than the US, it is probably only a small amount more expensive.
