"Complications from overheating, often alongside heavy alcohol consumption, is the most common cause of death. However, drinking too much water in an attempt to stay 'safe' is more dangerous. Some, often inexperienced, users have died after drinking as much water as they physically could. In one reported case, a user died after drinking 26 pints of water in a short space of time. The excess water causes the brain to swell inside the skull, which puts pressure on the brain stem and leads to coma and death.
Deaths involving contaminants are rare but do happen, as do deaths involving drugs cocktails (ecstasy and DXM, and ecstasy, cocaine and Viagra are the current dangerous mixes). "

It's tough to say because there are so many different variables. You never know what's in the pills....lets say they are cut with either speed, DXM, coke, or heroin......You pop a few pills, have a few beers, drink a few red bulls......right there you are mixing three, four, maybe five toxins that could very well kill you when combined together. I'm sure this wasn't the first time this poor kid has done it. I don't care how experienced you are or how sure you know exactly what you're taking, the point is when you decide to do it, you're talking a risk....it might be a small risk but in cases like this is makes you put things in perspective.

hmm interesting you would mention the ways pills are cut. it brings to mind a conversation my friend was having with me this wknd after learning of what happened. she was like, "well how do you know exactly what the pills are cut with? what if someone decided to cut them with poison of some kind?" not that ppl would...but then how would one know that? well maybe not with enough to kill someone in one dose...but it could make someone sick. like u said, multiple doses or a variety of mixes could prove potentially lethal. I dunno, after she said that to me...i just couldn't say anything. I was struck speechless, and just ended up thinking a lot.

dont mean to sound like im overreacting, just reiterating the conversation. Def a wake-up call if there ever was one. at least for me. i mean, of course i know there are testing kits out there and then of course one can tell whats actually in it.

Never Did it, Never will. I always have to be in control of my body
and mind, but thats just me...just not worth the risks.

Moral of the story. Test your pills or look them up on that pill website, and don't drink too much alcohol or water.

I hate these stories, especially a few weeks before I go to Ibiza

Before any more rumors start, I will try to give as much detail as possible....

The kid was the best friend of one of Sean and my close friends, Jeremy. We never really knew this kid, but Jeremy, we have known for years, and he was with us in the DJ booth when we were told to stop the music by the promoter. When we finally made it outside, we all found out who it was, and Jeremy got a call on his cell from the kid's parents asking what was going on with their son.

Anyways, the kid that apparently OD'd (which has not been proven by tests) was an overweight stocky kid with a high blood pressure already. There should be no reason for him to get involved with drugs, however, according to our friend, this kid was well-seasoned when it comes to partying, and has been for years. I am not saying I agree with him partying at all, I just am trying to say that this could have been one of those rare events when all factors considered, his heart just gave out.

Our other friend, James, was one of the guys to apply CPR to the kid outside with one of the bouncers. James said he had been holding the kid up for an hour already, trying to give him water and keep him awake. Not many people would even pay attention to a kid all fucked up in a club, and I am proud to say that I have a friend like that who would do what he did.

By the time the ambulance came, it was just too late.

Sean and I have been clubbing for years, and we have NEVER witnessed this happen to anyone we knew. It is a shame that this had to happen on what started out as such an amazing night, but is even more tragic that this happened to someone we knew. Our friend lost his best friend of 15 years Saturday night, and I cannot even begin to imagine what that must feel like. Our thoughts and prayers go out our good friend Jeremy, the kid's family, and especially the kid himself.... May he rest in peace.

I hope this clears up some of the rumors/stories going around. Like Brian said, everyone just please be careful what you take these days if you are going to take anything. Sometimes sober might be the best and safest way to go.

On a side note, Sean loved Love (that sounds odd haha) and especially the vibe that was on the dancefloor. He is looking forward to coming back to NYC in the Fall, get ready for something huge!

When Sean comes to town it's one of those times I make an exception. The vibe was great and I was having a really good time......up in till the end that is. I'm not going to get into details here as it's not my place but I will say a few things. We all make decisions in our life, some bad, some good. I have to say that this night, somebody made a bad one and it backfired. For me it was a huge wake up call. I can't imagine how I could deal with something like this if it was somebody close to me......that thought just keep replaying over and over in my head. This is one of the reasons I have started to put more space between myself and this scene.........we keep getting older and you just never know. That being said, I ask each and everyone of you to please be careful and use you head......you might not get a second chance.....and in some people's cases, a third or forth......
that so true brian i know what u mean im starting to not really go out anymore cause im working on geting my cdl for my job...( if anybody needs a moving company hit me up on ta or facebook lol )

Couldn't of been said any better.. there are so many different reasons for bad stuff to happen... it isn't like how it was 10 years ago where pure mdma was predominately what was sold. I know it's also possibly due to his heart complications, but those little pills are only getting more dangerous, not safer.
Watching what went down with that kid is sad... i hope i never have to experience that like the first time i did at SF.

I'm sad to hear that this has happened to someone. My thoughts go out to the family. Stay safe people, its not worth it and you are surrounded by friends that can already make a night amazing without needing substances. Have a beer instead, unless you're driving.

You nailed it Joe.

It was most def a combination of things that pushed his poor heart over the limit. The fact that he was over weight with high blood pressure throws up red flags for sure. A good friend of mine that I actually met on TA a long time ago (really nice girl) was perfectly healthy and in good shape. She did her fair share of partying over the years but was never a hard core drug user. Occasionally she would do some blow here and there. Well one night she had did some blow and drank one red bull.....she had a massive heart attack and died in her sleep that night (God rest her soul.) I was told that after they performed a biopsy on her that they discovered she had a heart condition and the combo of the coke and red bull was just too much for her heart to handle at that time. It's a real shame to go out like that. How many of you actually go to the doctor once a year and get checked out......."hey Doc, do you think my heart is strong enough to handle the drugs I take when I go out?" I highly doubt it. My point is, it doesn't matter if you're taking "pure" drugs or not......our bodies were not made to take this kind of abuse and sooner or later you're going to pay for it somehow......it's already coming out of your pocket.

yup, you're right..
pure mdma is legal for treating depression tho
