first of all. they dont even know they are listening to trance. they go cause they know the names armin and tiesto not cause they know the music. second they go to the big massives to get fucked. who's gonna play your weekly nights? dj joe bine de st-jrme? you wont be able to afford international trance DJs weekly.

you don't need big trance names...there are plenty of locals who play trance that cant get gigs cause its always fkn house, not saying i dont like house cause thats what got me into dj'ing but to hear it everywhere? no, shouldn't be like that

and they dont just go there to get fucked cause if they did and didnt like trance they would go to the house room...and not just big raves that are jammed, its afterhours too,go to circus or redlite when theres a trance event and let me know how it goes! its gonna blow ur mind, you just cant top mental trance beats,u just cant!

Maybe..I dunno?
I used to love it back when the stuff was still fresh. Now it all sounds the same to me. Don't get me wrong minimal, techno and the rest also have plenty of garbage that sounds the same. The only difference is there are producers pushing the sound and making some really exotic stuff. Maybe trance has this? Prove me wrong and show me trance that is unique?

I totally understand ur point but I see that the problem with trance productions is that u have ALOT of so called trance producers out there and the amount of trance songs that get released is big. However, like everything u have tunes that stand out because they are special and different and u have other which u would listen to once and would never remember.

Check out Producers like Gareth Emery, Leon Bolier, Sander van doorn, Dakota (Markus Shculz) and u may find something different.

Guys, amid all this arguing, would you say there's more trance in Montreal or Toronto?

Trance is dead, dudes, together with tiesto, grow up already

I'm no DJ, but that was a niceee transition by Gareth at like 1:43.. into a sick song too!

A better question is why is there not a techno night in montreal. Also the trance I have heard lately is not really all that great. I prefer the old school trance to the new blended all sounds the same stuff.

It was pretty good but not trancy enough for me.

1- Why is it a better question?

2- there are techno nights

I think his spectrum of techno is pretty narrow... Is this what you were referring to? Techo Head?

Posted by Techo Head on Jul-10-2009 13:22:

Jeff Mills would be gold. But I used to love the Friday techno nights at Aria back a few years ago when Preach was a resident. Actually I think they would play hard techno. I have never since seen a club that packed full of people and the vibe was incredible. What not have more of these nights again in Mtl.

Actually there are not really techno nights. I was told bender and arsen played techno but they clear do not. Maybe I am too old school but what they play is certainly not techno. They play like a blended mix of tech-house stuff.

Progressive House and Tech-House sounds Friday July 10th with X-Cube (www.djxcube.com) and Gabriel Batz (www.gabrielbatz.com) at Le Passeport.
