I fully agree with what you're saying. A month is more than enough time to make a decent mix of favourites. I think being every month would also increase the anticipation and excitement even more, while every fortnight might work, I feel it would lose interest more rapidly.
The thing with playing tunes unmixed is that it works fine for those that choose from a diverse range of genres or styles, but for those that have a more specific taste or say only have a taste for one particular genre or style of EDM, unmixed tracks are boring as hell.
