I know. I think it heightens the effect, like dead insects in a store window.

I was driving the route 45 here in Mississauga before during and after the storm.

It was nice and sunny in the south and the sky to the Northwest was dark, then really dark. Then in literally about three minutes it started pissing. I opened the doors to the bus to let a person on and got completely soaked myself. Tree branches falling left right and centre. There was lightning everywhere. I threw the fourways on and made an emergency call to the control as Winston Churchill was flooding very quickly, especially since they are doing all kinds of construction on there. Pilons and street signs all over the road. There was traffic signals literally hanging off of the posts.

Then eventually I got to the intersection of W. Churchill and Eglinton. There was a very bright flash of light immeadiatly follow by a clap and huge boom. Never heard anything like it. All the lights in the area went off and the traffic signals ( the ones not hanging by the wires) started flashing red. People very quickly forget to treat the intersection like a 4-way stop.

I kept driving. I then witnessed quite possibly the most humourous and pathetic sight of the evening. Some poor bastard had his windshield fog up, so he was driving with his head sticking out the driver side window. It was obvious he still couldnt see cause of the ridiculous amount of rain, and drove clean off the road and through a fence into someones back yard.

I unfortunatly dont bring my camera to work, but it really was something I have NEVER seen before.

You could argue that since he's the almighty, everything is an act of god...

Or... What if I don't believe in god???

It's such a ridiculous out-dated policy....

Agreed. Shit happens, thats why we buy insurance. It would be a very difficult pill to swallow to know that EVERYTHING I owned could be destroyed and receive no compensation after paying house insurance.....

Property Policies vary a lot but typically all policies will cover what are called Specified Perils.

quote:

"Specified Perils"
Subject to the exclusions and conditions in this policy, Specified Perils mean:
1. fire;
2. lightning;
3. explosion;
4. smoke due to a sudden, unusual and faulty operation of any heating or cooking unit in or on the premises;
5. a falling object which strikes the exterior of the building but not an object which strikes the building because of snowslide, landslide or any other earth movement;

container located outside your dwelling. However, such damage is not
covered when the escape of water is caused by freezing;
d. water which enters your dwelling through an opening which has been
created suddenly and accidentally by a peril not otherwise excluded;
e. the backing up or escape of water from an eaves trough or down spout, or by ice damming, provided the water has not entered through a basement or foundation wall;
10. windstorm or hail, excluding loss or damage caused by weight of ice, snow, or sleet waves or floods, all whether driven by wind or not. This peril does not include loss or damage to your personal property within a building, caused by windstorm, hail or coincidental rain damage unless the storm first creates an opening in the building;
11. transportation meaning loss or damage to your personal property, caused by collision, upset, overturn, derailment, stranding or sinking of any motorized vehicle or attached trailer in which the insured property is being carried. This would also apply to any conveyance of a common carrier, but does not include loss or damage to property in a vacation or home trailer which you own. Watercraft, their furnishings, equipment or motors are also not covered.[QUOTE]
