After only having a bowl of cereal in the morning and planning on drinking throughout the cruise I was determined to have a burger. Those ******s even made us wait till the boat left the dock to purchase a burger, not just a drink. So when we finally left dock an hour and a half after advertised that crappy boiled burger with only mustard and ketchup and that coors light never tasted so good! That crew sure knows how to piss people off and build up the anticipation of a drink and some food.
Demi - the music was awesome! I for one enjoy the build of a set and you certainly built it up perfectly . Perfect boat cruise music. The middle of your setreminded me of some guy named Danny Howells 
This party didn't live up to the hype. It's pretty tough to top the 2007 cruise. But I still had a good time and it was better than any other average Sunday afternoon.
How long did things go at Tryst?

And with the abuse of drugs and irresponsible behaviour that seems to have been an unfortunate recurring theme, I feel now that the 'novelty' of spending a special day out in the sun listening to something alternative yet equally musically and spiritually uplifting is now lost on a lot of people there I say this because I more than anyone else that afternoon got SEARCHED INSIDE OUT - this was after an initial problem the security had with me bringing FRUIT onto the boat so I could keep myself fresh for the afternoon ahead. It was embarassing on Dwaine's part as he attempted to lecute me on how as the DJ, I should be leading by example....???? But what can you do. Unfortunately all these factors have now left a bad taste in the majority of people's mouths when it comes to deciding about whether they want to part with $30-50 of your money for this. I had a fantastic time on Sunday especially and yes I was too a little suprised by how long I was told to 'contain myself' before they could let me play at full volume. Once things were in full swing, the party WAS in full swing. Slaps though for some people that thought I was going to play harder. That's why I did Footwork the night before - still laughing at the 'music being too hard' comment It is unfortunately the last time I will do a boat cruise there in the city . This is something not even the promoters are to blame for but the policies that the boat now enforce.... i personally think there should be a cap on how many of these boat parties go on over the course of the summer but then again, are the boat companies not going to want to make money whenever someone or anyone wants to throw a boat party?? I doubt that very much either way, thanks to all of you who did come to both shows and till the next time - peace...xxx |

RG went from being the best boat out there to you know what... and i've been on it the last 3 years at least. It wasn't like this before, there is a huge demand for events on that boat now so obviously they started having like 7 parties a week on it which attracted the wrong crowd etc etc (nothing to do with the promoters though)
shame this all happened during demi's cruise..

The amigos cruises on the enterprise 2K are still good. Sure the crowds a little sketchy but you're barely searched, no stupid announcements, no stupid burgers, we got drinks as soon as boarding and we almost left on time.
I will never board the River Gambler again.

Security put out the worst vibe ever. Those REPEATED announcements reminded me of grade school monotony. DO NOT blah blah blah.
There was a time where boats left early and on time and if you weren't there too bad for you. Mind you, it's a lot easier for that to happen when the boat is sold out way ahead of time. Flying in a DJ to headline a boat is a riskier proposition promo wise. Now, factor in all the other cruises happening in a given month, numbnuts who get too fucked up, our unpredictable Toronto weather this summer, higher cruise prices (compared to years ago), boats that don't leave on time and it's no surprise ppl feel they're not getting their money's worth. Promoters are at the whim of the boat/security, the boat ppl are worried about losing their liquor license/having cops board the ship (because of numbnuts), and the patrons are left wondering who to be pissed off at.
It's a sad state of affairs, but ultimately, the numbnuts are to blame.

i had a fantastic time on the boat, the music was perfect for a summer afternoon and I danced and danced and danced.

yeah. i think this was definitely the last summer for boat cruises at least for me. unless they are private affairs on tiny boats for like 30 people.

but not to take away from the weekend. i had a great time on the boat, eventho there wasn't too many people. demi's tunes were great! please come back soon. tryst was also really fun and i think that patio area is really cool space.

The boat cruises are sketch, I don't care which way you look at it. Everyone razzed me for staying away bc of my impression of the crowd, but after having finally been on one (that apparently wasn't that bad! -HA) I have to say there were no surprises, the crowd was as brutal as I had pictured. I was stone cold sober the entire time and couldn't believe my eyes - ick.
Glad someone who was supposed to be the main guest of the whole event spoke up.

shitty deal... i was talking with the captain of RG on the Hot boat. he was telling me theyre borderline losing their liquor license cuz of all the g outs hence why they have to be so ridiculously hard in their searching. plus the fact that the bottom level gets so insanely hot due to lack of air flow (perhaps put a couple industrial fans to keep things cool?), g - outs are too easy.. esp with alcohol intake. too bad things had to turn out like that. thanks g-outs

Who does G on a demi or mistress barbara cruise? I didn't realize that element of society had such a defined taste in music. Plus doesn't it cost 4 times what it used to? I assumed usage had declined.
I'd expect it on the amigos cruise and yet I didn't see a single g out for the august long weekend cruise. Go figure!
