I really give PVD credit for dropping Trentemoller and Auralfloat in his Essential Mix.. Im definitely going to check it out just for that reason...

even though i dont want to agree with Liz(<3 PVD), she's absolutely right! For years now PVD has been hit or miss. For me atleast, it's not worth going to see him at Space. Many times it seems he's about to wreck the place, only to let the set go to huge disappointment. Are we expecting too much from him? Yea we are, and maybe we're wrong, but it's Paul Van Dyk for god's sake. Should he bang it out everytime at Space? Hell yeah, he should know that's how it's done at Space and nothign else will suffice! I'm fine with listening to his sets online now in days. Would like to make it out though. Seems like trance is as dead as ever here in the 305

heres all the times ive seen him at space...
wmc2003 - 6 hour set... epic.
wmc2004 - 5-6 hour set... not bad but the year before was way better.
wmc2005 - 4-5 hour set... spent most of the night on the terrace for sander k who rocked it way harder.
aug2005 - 3 hour set... good, but nothing special.
nov2005 - 3 hour set... best set ive ever seen by him. he was absolutely on fire. he was playing so fast and so hard i couldnt believe my ears. no one could id anything (and there were plenty of pvd whores around) for the first 2.5 hours. and there wasnt one bad track until the last 30 mins when he did pvd hour.
june2008 - 3 hour set on the terrace, which wasnt bad, but he couldnt quite get terrace vibe right.
wmc2009 - banging first hour, vocally and disappointing for the rest of the night.

thanksgiving 2004 was apparently the worst set ever. i wasnt there, but i think that was the night everyone complained about. thanksgiving 2003 was recorded and up for download and that didnt sound that special either. wmc2008 was obviously recorded and one of the better shows hes done.

like i said... its hit or miss.

This is very correct for anyone who was wondering. Nov 2004 worst ever pvd set at space. Nov 2005 was the best pvd set ever (anywhere). All the other sets refereed to went with my opinion as well. To add to it, December 2008 was not that good of a set though, considering he tore it up two night previously in Orlando I was very disappointed.

By the way, the set time has not been advertised for his terrace set. Unlike the set time on the mainroom flyer. So he could very well be playing a daytime set on the terrace. If this is not confirmed I will not make the trip. I prefer my pvd in the dark

On clubspace.com events page. The PVD terrace show is listed as "midnight terrace marathon" which is a good sign.

just checked the wanttickets page. it did say "1am-5am" a few days ago, but now it also says "midnight terrace marathon."

no idea what to think now honestly. i highly doubt pvd would start at midnight and i doubt it even more that he would play a marathon set. in all likely hood hes probably only going to play 3 hours now if they advertised 4 before and changed it.

im tired of spaces bullshit. as im sure everyone is.

Posted by snatonsb on Oct-01-2009 22:32:

Dude just wait til Jackie Richie gets the hard tickets printed out they will probabaly be $40-45 cash and no service fees.

1-5am is the set time. So you are getting a full 4 hour set for your money. I also said they are bringing in extra production for this show so it will be conference style setup on the terrace.

it's amazing Tiesjoke can actually get people to pay the ridiculous sums of money at his shows (like the $125 PRESALE price @ Liv). $50 for PvD isn't so bad (even though I did like paying between $25-30) @ least he doesn't have that "god" complex like Tiesjoke who thinks he's worth watching for even more than $5.

Hoping Paul plays my tune Backstabber [which he did on Vonyc recently] here's to wishful thinking. Would be nice to hear that on the terrace @ nite!!! Would be nice to hear him rip it proper [what I say everytime] ::crosses fingers::

looking forward to this after the tiesto disaster here in Atlanta... hopefully he bangs it out.

50 bucks is on the higher end of the spectrum for pvd pre-sale tix but i have seen the door price for previous pvd shows at $100
