I don't work hard just for the grades. I'm very aware that they don't mean shit (except for getting into grad school). I work hard so I can be good/near the best at what I do.

Would you like to be under the care of a nurse who only got 60s? That's 40% of shit she/he doesn't know and your life is in their hands, lol.

Pretty sure I was under the care of a nurse who got 60's. I left and decided not to get a stitch. Now I have a cool scar.

And actually...grades do mean something in my field. It's quite competitive, and there's only so many opportunities for a large amount of students. Obviously those opportunities are going to go to those who stand out...and believe me it's never the students who get 60s/70s, lol.

Only 2 students got to see an autopsy during my med-surg rotation last year, and I was one of them.

I think I'm the only undergrad in the department with a paid internship and I have probably the worst grades, and they're trying to send me to grad school.

I guess it has something to do with people's lives being in our hands and shit...but yeah it doesn't work like that for us, lol.

edit: Also, just about everything we learn is practical, so grades generally do tend to be a good reflection of what we know.

My field isn't about the grades its about the $$$ but the more you know...the more money you make.

in my field i surround myself with the book smart kids that know the ins and outs and proper way of doing things who are very thorough with contracts etc. And I also surround myself with the oldschool hustlers who know the fuck out of the law and know how to cut corners and be creative to make tons of cash.

However I work in a service industry right now, so I dont cut corners with clients. By cutting corners I mean investment real estate and creative financing and different laws you can use to make life alot easier then the conventional inschool method.

I think it is supposed to be like that however people are human and it isn't tough to quickly learn that my GPA does not reflect my skill set.
