For what it's worth, I get my auto and homeowners insurance through USAA, which is non-public. Every year, if premiums paid in are less than claims paid out, I receive a nice dividend check for my share. Usually I get about $100-200 bucks back each year. I have no problem with this type of system, and it involves exactly zero government.

Well, with the caveat that USAA insurance is generally only available to members of the military and their families. Rock on USAA.

I would be for that completely. Just as long as private insurance companies are phased out and replaced by something like USAA. How's that for a compromise?

USAA is private. The key is that the policy holders are also the owners so the interests are more aligned. Also, I posted an article from the NY Times in the other thread regarding the Swiss healthcare system. It's more appropriate to continue discussion there since this is an Acorn thread.

You may have heard that an independent report found that there was "no pattern of intentional, illegal conduct by ACORN." But what they also found was that not only were the videos substantially edited but that the editing also involved substitute voiceovers of the faux pimp and hooker who made the videos. So it's not really possible to see what the ACORN staffers were responding to.

And we're all just fucking shocked beyond words, especially towards Breibert who still refuses to release the original unedited videos.

Slimy fuck.
