Grand Opening
I just got an fb message for an invite to the grand opening on Dec. 10th. ummm on the flyer its says.... "National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (The EMMYS)" .... with no explanation of why or how the EMMYS are related to this....
the lineup sounds like a bunch of random non edm generic DJs..

Originally posted by punjabi I went to that. After almost not being let in because it was a "private party" (not true), I discovered the worst-sounding club I had ever been in, in any city. It's basically a giant brick warehouse with 30 foot walls, and you get no bass whatsoever unless you're sitting down. I will never go back for any DJ.

I just hope they've installed the new sound system at Amnesia by now.

Originally posted by sleepy&boo We were kind of more lending a hand to Rob Rewind on this party...the real sound system wasnt in yet and the space wasn't quite finished. I think it'll be great if they put a real quality sound system in there since its a great space, and a nice big, open room. It has a lot of potential for that. So let's see what shakes out sound wise. Hi Chaska!

Originally posted by sleepy&boo Yes they moved the bar, its not in the middle, so thats much better. The sound system they had when we played there was the old Sol sound system, with more subs. The DJ booth is really high up through - you cant really see the DJ unless you're standing all the way in the back of the room. That's a little bit of a bummer because I feel like the DJ needs to connect with the crowd. I dunno, I hope they improve some of these things.

Most people I know (I know a lot of people I used to be a big time promoter ) would never step foot in the place unless they stayed open till at leas 6 am. People... feel free to chime in ... |

Originally posted by yumpop Good I didn't go, better to wait for the changes. Yeah, I like seeing DJs do their thing. It sounds a lot like Arena to me with the set up and the meh system.

So what's the deal with this place? It's been a year now and I haven't heard a thing and now suddenly they have Gary Beck
coming on the 20th
Nice big space. Questionable sound. Generic club though and I think this is just a one-off booking by the promoter. I wouldnt get excited.
