I'm on my phone and can't see that video but I'll assume that that's the Sissy that did the tracks So Long and I See You.

Yeah, that'd be nice seeing them here, though I wasn't a fan of their newer stuff that they put samples up of on their myspace.

As for BoC, I haven't actually checked their site for tour dates but I don't think they play out much. They haveb't really come out with much since 2005's Campfire Headphase. I'm assuming they're working on a new album and I know they've played out before.

If it were at all possible to get them to play live though I would pay $100 easily to see them and they could play at Opera for all I'd care I would still go.

Did you ever think that instead of Atlanta slowing down, maybe more Charlotte gigs are getting advertised here?

I second that. They are both amazing acts that are just rare to see anywhere. I see sometimes thievery corporation plays out sometimes too but ive never seen them anywhere near here. Their new cd is a complete change up but im digging it.

Actually Thievery Corporation is coming in October.

Thievery Corporation is coming to Atlanta ? Is Liquified bringing them ? I also saw Kimball Collins is coming to ATL in October as well just to add to the point of this thread . Man give me some more info on this show if you don't mind.

I thought I did say that. Either way, that is another problem altogether. Once Devin put up the schedule, I backed down. Just hadn't seen much advertised, that's all. I guess the plethora of Charlotte shows just overwhelmed me.

I'd go see Sissy. I like the sounds of that. I actually wouldn't mind seeing some different types of EDM, but am not thrilled by techno or house. I'd like to come out to one of those ethereal shows.

Atlanta is getting Above & Beyond on Nov. 11th @ Opera. That pretty much just leveled the playing field.

Yeaaaah! I just saw that. Twice in one year! That makes up for their absence last year. It's on a Wednesday, unfortunately, so I hope that the turnout is reasonable.

... I'm going to join Zack in his laments for Atlanta's trance scene, simply on the grounds that Charlotte is getting Gareth Emery, and we aren't. Doesn't the rest of the Southeast* know that it isn't allowed to book cool trance artists until we see them first? :P

(Then again, I'm willing to make the drive to Charlotte for Emery, so it's mostly irrelevant.)

(* - excluding Miami)

Proem! Good to see that name in here. He's recently released some tracks on a label based out of San Francisco I do booking for.

He will come to Atlanta soon enough

Atlanta fall lineup is looking pretty sparse. Theres a lot of good bands coming through, but I haven't seen any DJs being booked I'm remotely interested in.

I guess with Bazzaar and now Cenci closed, promoters are finding things pretty difficult.

That's part of it for sure. It didn't help that the SOCO, Vagabond/Diagnostik parties and our parties pretty much received the brunt of venue closings. Its a shame when other venues/promoters aren't willing to help...they would rather stick to their bland routines of attracting crowds that care less about music and more about club life. Bleh...

Needless to say, we'll be back soon! Dilo, who visited us 10 days ago, will be releasing a new album on 2circles soon, the same label Proem is showcased above. Album release parties in san francisco and atlanta with free releases for you and free entry...money doesn't have to be the main object in electronic music

definitely agreed. nice to hear about Dilo, I missed him when he was here. keep at it matt.

Yeah Matt, keep it up. Your whole collective and the Diagnostik people definitely throw down the best. That schedule does look pretty sparse, oh well.

you know..... "back in the day" many people used to just drive to Atlanta from Charlotte on a bi-weekly basis and vise versa. So if you like something Charlotte has to offer, come up and visit. Just like anytime Atlanta has something going on that I want to see, I drive down and go to it.

I have to agree. The drive isn't so bad and the covers are very reasonable.
But I am looking forward to heading down to ATL next month
