actually i am not only into 'cheesy' stuff like deadmau5 but also 'underground' dj's that get everyone orgasming on this site (hawtin, holden, zabiella, etc etc)

even the biggest of names produce some good music, and i find it ridiculous that haters get all bent out of shape by commercial djs and saying how bad they are, they can't mix, they should be shot etc....

seriously people - ITS OK to like the odd poppy tune once in a while if it is good EDM. i'm sure if 15 year olds had no idea who Deadmau5 was, you would be dying over how dirty of a tune 'slip' is, or 'arguru' for instance..... neither of which is very poppy if you take away the mouse head!!

just because he's now a pop star doesn't mean he can't make a good tune people!! he's a businessman but also has some pretty sick skills to make some of the stuff he has

you guys are so l33t

why should someone feel silly because he enjoyed listening to trance mix CDs 5 years ago?

you guys take music way too seriously lol

I dont give a fuck about deadmau5 but I still enjoyed faxing berlin and the song with morgan page when they were released and I won't feel bad about it ...

I don't consider someone my friend because of his music tastes...if any of you do...get a fucking life !

and by the way Mr. Alexx G I've been seeing a lot of your post the last few months/years and you were acting exactly like these OMGBBQ kids for the opening of stereo or shitty trancy bookings at red lite

well then obviously u were observing the wrong things
1. its only been a year im on TA
2. everybody on this forum was excited like little girlies for stereo
3. i went to redlite maybe 3 times in my life: blank n jones, cosmic gate, and some other one i cant remember

yes b&j was shit, cosmic were amazing the first time, and well dont remember the last one.
so dont exagerate!

Vermz is always right...i hate him

its true, fuck who cares what people get into first, its always going to happen...Most people starting listening to euro dance, or trance, or now this electro beat of Deadmouse or Benny Benassi style...theres always the starting point...theres people who stay with the genre and progress into other EDM and theres people who stay there forever

i was into Tiesto back in the day, so were many people, or trance in general

"evolution of taste"

Euordance..gotta love it..i still listen to this stuff like once a week..cant get fed up of all those classics....and yes Vermz is right...who cares what people listen to at 10/15/20/25...i will probably be 30 and still listen to my eurodance stuff...

As for trance...hey i love it...so what?....i have a massive collection of trance and ii keep myself up to date on a daily basis.....same goes for house......

as for this underground stuff...blah doesnt get to me....same goes for stereo..i havent been there once...so freaking what?.. should i start asking myself if i have become a fag for listening to eurodance or trance in 2009?

way to miss the point entirely...

Yup, you got it. Everyone started with something, and a few started with non-cheesy stuff. The point that Vermz missed entirely is that you do not need to feel ashamed of what got you into EDM or any other music. Still, it's funny when you think about what you were into a few years ago and how your taste evolve.

And that was the point. Some of you started with Tiesto and AVB. Some of you started with Basshunter or Dj Sammy. Some of you started with Guettta and Bob Sinclar.

Most of you don't listen to that stuff anymore.

Now the kids start with Deadmau5. So what ? The music is crap and they will realize it soon enough. They will move away come back, but still they need a starting point.

If we want our scene to survive, we have to allow for the "commercial" DJs playing lazily produced EDM to have a place in the industry, to get newcomers.

Posted by fullhouse on Sep-27-2009 18:29:

the only reason deadmau5 is more underground then celine dion is cause his beginnings as a lab rat were in his crack head basement

Couldn't agree more. Sill, it's fun to give these artists a hard time. No harm done there.

Can't wait to sell my CDJ's and buy a 1200 again. Gonna buy old vinyl off discogs and pretend its 2003 again in my room alone crying. Don't even know what underground is anymore.. ever since Beatport there is no way to tell. Its ok for people to start with commercial music (I did 2) but if they havent dug a bit deeper within a month or two they will stay newbies. These are the ones that need to be smacked inback of the head a few times. Don't even agree with most of you, it was better when nobody knew what techno was. The scene was still strong and filled with less idiots.

Posted by Alexx G on Sep-27-2009 21:08:

so, im still waiting for a review.. nobody went?

Posted by Alexx G on Sep-27-2009 21:08:

btw i heard moby was awsome, any reviews on that too?

Posted by fullhouse on Sep-27-2009 21:27:

none of u are from the warehouse era so lets stop the underground nostalgia bullshit

edm is crazy glued to partying so all that really matters is the party.

if you're at stereo and u claim to bump to underground youre a douche

u can claim so if ure at chill afterhours lol

and thats pretty wack music i might say, whats up candy ravers

I started going to raves in '93 and they were pretty much all in warehouses.

Posted by Dj Nacht on Sep-27-2009 23:09:

Fullhouse you would be suprised if you knew how much things have changed from when I started. You don't have to be from the warehouse days to be considered old school. To clear things up here, I only consider myself old school in relation to TA.

Posted by jester on Sep-27-2009 23:26:

honestly i have no clue how to put this but, someone should start doing stuff in warehouses again. time to get back into the dark box of sorts

for me the only type of "wareshouse" party/event we still have is at S.A.T when I Love Neon does stuff and now they are going into 1234 *sigh*

we should do some sort of co-op. put some money together, see how much we can get and go from there [i know its a crazy idea] its like a party for the people by the people

Posted by Fran666 on Sep-27-2009 23:29:

on the fun scale,

i don't think my fun in 1991-1999 is more fun than my fun in 2000-2009... (except for lack of snowballs these days lol)

it's all fun !!!

evolution that's all... nothing better, nothing worse...

only thing that changed is people putting clubs, music styles and groups of people into boxes. But this was a promoter's propaganda game when we had 5 afterhours and 40 edm clubs in Montreal.

Of course people tastes change with time, but don't think people all change in the same way as you, because i have one of my buddies, huge edm fan since the 90's too, that LOVES deadmau5's music... he usually listens to good stuff all the time...but he also loves deadmau5 which he finds is great.

so you say it's crap but that's only your opinion, not a law.

doesn't mean that the music you love someone else won't find it crap.

as for kids getting in edm, sorry it's not the music, it's the promo effort, don't think kids would of hooked up on tiesto so fast, if he didn't made his name in the olympics...

same thing for deadmau5, don't think people would of hooked up on his music if he didn't make 7 beatport top 10 and 10 beatport top 20 in a week and if he didn't wear is mask...

sorry got nothing to do with music, but everything to do with your own personal taste.

Posted by Alexx G on Sep-27-2009 23:52:

its all the masks fault

it still exists

at circus, stereo and redlite...

just you get better services for lower cost and luxurious lofts.

evolution...

it's you people who bring the spirit...

bring it back, all this fence fighting is stupid and cause destruction.

wouldn't be different in a hideout...

edit: to be clearer, it would be hard to do a 3000 peeps edm event out of only techno fans, only trance fans or only house fans.

cudos to bal en blanc and black and blue to do just that but you blame them of being commercial to appeal to more people.

3000 peeps events in 1993-1996 were weekly almost. at least monthly.

reedit: ok i'm exagerating says one of my buddies next to me... but you get my point.

Posted by Dj Nacht on Sep-28-2009 01:03:

I got into music from my cousin telling me about Aria. That triggered everything, didn't even know the name of a single DJ. WORD OF MOUTH, you have the decision to who your gonna tell. Once it reaches the olympics your getting commercial and your automatically inviting every douchebag to join the scene. Anybody who thinks its great to be attracting as many people as possible is so wrong.

yes but every edm lover you can invite won't come if it's trance, if it's techno or if it's house...

this is what is different.

so to think you'll be able to make a 3000 peeps illegal rave in 1 style of music mouth to ear promo in 2009, you would be lying to yourself.

in those days people didn't give a damn about nothing else but being there for the experience, which reached to all of the edm lovers.

people today know better, they judge with their musical tastes.

so this is why if you want it to come back, people need to be open minded a little more... Sometimes you are in for nice surprises.

For example: i know some of you would love hearing simon patterson play live, but some of you won't come because he's a trance dj.
