so heres my review... he came on and started with pretty much the entire new album. he wasnt crowd interacting very much at the beginning which is interesting because it was his new album. after he was done with that though he really turned it up. here and there hes brought it back down for a track or two but he kept the energy up most of the night. after that first hour, he was smiling, dancing, jumping around, really getting into it. honestly, it wasnt anything super mindblowing musically, but he REALLY put on a good show. people can talk shit all they want about tiesto, but he knows how to rock a show. always has and probably always will. even with his new style. a lot of the album tracks actually sound way better live too. guess thats how they were meant to be heard. not as a shitty mp3 on a laptop. some of the ids he dropped were crazy too. cant wait to get some of those figured out.
the venue was awesome. the sound was pretty ace. not perfect, but we cant expect dynacord either now can we? there wasnt even any speakers towards the back, only ones up front and it still sounded awesome. the video wall was amazing. the entire light show was tops. only thing that was lacking was lasers, but hey, we knew they werent gonna be there. we ended up getting there around 9 and got right in no problem. didnt get searched, nothing. once inside there was zero security anywhere. there were a couple cops just standing in the lobby area but they didnt bother anyone from what i saw. so anyway we went right down to the floor with no problems at all. i kinda feel bad for the people that bought vip club tickets because once you got inside the arena you could go basically anywhere. obviously not backstage, but there was NO difference with ga tickets and vip club level tickets. most people were on the floor the whole night but if you got tired you could go sit anywhere. beer was being sold on the floor for $6 for miller lite 12oz bottles. by the concession stands beer was $6 for 16oz yuenling or coors light. water was $3.50 i think. there were never long lines for anything. tshirts were being sold too for $25. which isnt bad at all.
now one thing i have to say is that even though it was an "all ages" event and there were a bunch of kids there (i honestly didnt see anyone younger than like 16 or 17) and a TON of glowsticks... i honestly fucking preferred that crowd to the crowd at space. people were nice. it was never packed like crazy where you had no room to dance. i didnt see one fight or anyone oding for that matter. everyone was just there to have a good time. everyone was into the show the whole night. yea there were some dumb "whoop whoop" chants throughout the night and people chanting "ti-es-to" during the opening djs but it really didnt bother me.
overall... this show was awesome. tiesto did good. the crowd was good. the venue was awesome. i would love some more of these shows to be honest. fuck the "im so elite i only listen to underground shit no one else has ever heard or is ever going to hear" bullshit. i mean its nice to hear shit that no one knows and is dope and all but all the time is kinda whack too. this was a great change of pace.
Just to clarify and keep flaming from starting;
Club level "vip" tickets had their perks
- Seperate VIP entrance with no line
- A VIP lounge directly benith the seating with private bars
- Private bathrooms in the VIP loung
- premium padded seating

as far as dynacord goes.. the l acoustics rig we deployed is commonly referred to as the best in the world. The reason these tracks sound better 'live' is because there is some tricky things going on with this particular set up to make the rig sound unique. Dynacord is more like club level stuff - where this is top of the line gear
The reason the sound 'only comes from one side' is because the speaker technology we use at shows like this pretty much has to be set up this way. The combination of a huge line of speakers allows us to control the direction sound travels... mostly. It is a "front loaded" soundsystem with extrelemy long throw capabilities. If you stood in the back of the room - the energy still slapped you in the chest from the p.a. rig. This is very common in the concert world - we just configure it a little differently for what we do.
-glad you enjoyed my show however and I appreciate the revue!

Sounds like it was an awesome show. Hope I don't regret only going to see him at the Ritz tomorrow in Tampa instead of making the drive to Orlando.

This was such an awesome show! The venue was superb for such massive epic sound. You just can't get that energy we had last night in a club... Everyone just goes ballistic to a whole 'nother level due to the big open space of an arena like this.
The lights were amazing. I was worried about the sound, with the opening DJ- it just wasn't moving me, but as suspected, when Tiesto came on, they flipped the switch and that system pumped!
No meat-head bouncers ruinning the vibe. Security did not make their presence known whatsoever. No need to really, with such a great well behaved crowd.
As far as the tracklist, I was very happy. Tiesto went a little on the techy side for my tastes for 3-4 songs, but he played plenty of trance floor fillers, and included some all time classics like "Out of the Blue" and ended with "Silence"-perfect. And I forgot all about "He's a Pirate" which was a great surprise.
Thanks Jeff w/ HTG for putting this together! So much appreciation from me. THANK GOD FOR PUTTING IT ON THE WEEKEND!!! Hopefully it was well worth your effort to keep them coming...!
What a great night!

Glad to hear the show was good. I am not very fond of his new album thus I did not care to part take in the show.
But I'm glad to hear that those who went had a blast
great pics PatMcGroin!!!!! thanks! looking forward to the vids.
Damn this show was killer...!!!!
that "make some noise" photo is FANTASTIC!!!! good work
i agree that most of the tracks sound much better on a system......bout a month ago a friend of mine had a gig, and he played a few of the tracks out...sounded much better
How does tiesto have all those screens at every gig. Does he travel with them? i think they are just great. Btw I can't wait to see tegan and sara feel it in my bones vid again from orlando.
