And appear ungrateful and spur the accusation that he's elitist and arrogant? Not likely.

I think his carefully measured response was actually pretty good. Very little to criticize there - surprised and honored, and not sure he lives up to the contributions of past winners, but inspired by the call to action to strive for peace and justice the world over. Listed a few of the things he will work for, and said this award solidifies his resolve in keeping them on his agenda.

How a man who commands a military activly involved in two wars/occupations wins a PEACE prize is absolutely beyond me.

i believe this was awarded to him as a slap to those that refuse to fight the good fight!

The US federal government contributed approximately 49 million dollars to the Obama Inauguration (the other $100,000 was paid by donations and ticket sales). The 2009 US federal budget was approximately 3.1 trillion dollars.... a whopping 0.015% of the budget was spent on the inauguration... drop in the bucket.
