my brother and i got my mother allways crazy with game music from asterix and obelix or alex the kid
(on the sega 8bit)
Some quality posts..
Super mario 2, dr. mario and a few others are class!
Tetris is always gonna be my fav.
But... where is wipeout!!!
I listened to the Wipeout 2097(sp? wip3out?) music cd I got with a games mag all the time for exam revision....
Seriously just listening to them makes me think that I should be revising, like some kinda neural programming lol! Wow seriously that's weird.
EDIT: Musta been thinking about wip3out/2097 has like firestarter etc on it, wipeout was always this though! (still with the goose bumps around 2:40!) >>>>>
Not too shite either:
Ever play the boat game that had a apollo 440 sound track too, it was nuts, ace but at point you just had to accept... fuck thats fast!!!
Can find the theme but I'm sure that wasn't the best track from it though (by far).

Some of my favourites that haven't been brought up yet:
Chrono Trigger - Coridors of Time
Fzero - Big Blue (Toss up between this and Mute City for me)
Sonic 3 - Hydrocity Act 2
Megaman 2 - Dr Wily Theme
sparkster was awesome.

I take issue with the OPs premise. I think games are more fun now than they were 20 years ago.

Yeah, I think since were talking fun then its a purely individual measuring stick, depending both on the games you played back in the day, and what is fun to you. for me, shooters, racing games, RPGs and RTSs are worlds better today than what I grew up with.
it is far more fun to go into a power-slide and correct it in something like 2008's GRID than it was playing this i can promise you

Haha, this.
