Tetris is always gonna be my fav.

But... where is wipeout!!!

I listened to the Wipeout 2097(sp? wip3out?) music cd I got with a games mag all the time for exam revision....

Seriously just listening to them makes me think that I should be revising, like some kinda neural programming lol! Wow seriously that's weird.

EDIT: Musta been thinking about wip3out/2097 has like firestarter etc on it, wipeout was always this though! (still with the goose bumps around 2:40!) >>>>>

Not too shite either:

Ever play the boat game that had a apollo 440 sound track too, it was nuts, ace but at point you just had to accept... fuck thats fast!!!

Can find the theme but I'm sure that wasn't the best track from it though (by far).

speaking of commodore64, did you guys know that kernkraft400 is a remix of a C64 game?

C64 games had awesome music. The trancs in these videos are all remixes of c64 games.

I take issue with the OPs premise. I think games are more fun now than they were 20 years ago.

I guess to each their own.

I really don't know how I feel on this issue. I want to say that the old games were more fun, but there are a lot of games released these days that I enjoy as well.

I don't know how to really resolve this for myself. I enjoy both new and old games, but I'll always find that the older games were more memorable. Maybe older games were more original and had more of an identity than all the sequels we see today. Maybe the amazing games today just get lost in the shuffle because there are a larger number of good games. Maybe I just couldn't play as many games when I was a kid and because I couldn't afford them all and the ones I did play have a more special place in my heart because I was forced to dedicate a larger percentage of my gaming time to them. I don't know.

With that said, I'll say something related to the OP's post: One big reason why these older games are so memorable to me is because of their soundtracks. To be honest, I don't know if these songs would be as memorable for me if they didn't have the technical limitations on the sounds they did back then. There was something about what they managed to do with the limited sound banks that gives them more charm to me.

Yeah, I think since were talking fun then its a purely individual measuring stick, depending both on the games you played back in the day, and what is fun to you. for me, shooters, racing games, RPGs and RTSs are worlds better today than what I grew up with.

it is far more fun to go into a power-slide and correct it in something like 2008's GRID than it was playing this i can promise you

I was way into Legend of Legaia actually.

I really loved the fighting system.

Now I really need to find it so I can play it again
