Sometimes I like to listen whatever is at the radio and don't really mind. They could have that to. Just a guess, is't very possible you're right. Good question for an interview.

Do you think he meant ambient as gerne? At first I thought he was, but now I think he maybe meant something else, like less commercial, to many people sounding weird stuff.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Oct-30-2009 21:19:

I don't know if he meant ambient as a genre, I'd like to know what he meant exactly. I'd like to see an interview where there were more questions about his "off time" music listening. Also with Tiesto and the other really big guys.

I think it would be interesting to know what the big DJs listen to when they're just relaxing and not concentrating on production or DJing or signing new artists to their label or anything like that. Armin said he likes "ambient and weird" stuff, I wonder what artists he listens to in his free time. :-)

I, too, am intrigued as to what this "ambient and weird" stuff is.

I'm sure he has people reading this forum, so to whoever that is: I dare Armin to make a mix of this "ambient and weird music" for his show, and thus show that he has the guts to play something different for his audience than 2 hours of anthems. He's done it before by playing Ben Liebrand - Modular 1 in its entirety. Step up!

Could be that weird would not be that weird for people over here. Think that Ferry shows some more variation with Fire, Rock Your Body Rock and Radio Crash compared to Armin, not really weird, but a bit different.

You know what I do whenIi can't stand a dj/producer. I DON'T LISTEN TO HIM!!! Obviously he is number 1 because more than less people like him. ASOT is dope and tell me another dj who will bring you a live feed for 72 straight hours and bring all his producers/dj's to play for the world.

Posted by The3atef on Oct-31-2009 02:14:

well if u think a little bit u'll got confused abt how this guy chooses the producers he will support and play their tunes despite other tunes that are amazing but he don't like to support their producer and after all that he remains the no.1 dj 3 times in a row
a guy who can do all that deserves to be the no.1 dj in the history

Your live sets and ASOT radio show has grown so diverse, all the genres of EDM can be found from minimal to house, why has this evolution occurred?

funny how you don't dare to reply here on TA where nobody agrees with you, while on t.nu, alot of people agree with you, you're all over the thread.

you know what's also funny? the track that you're most famous of was famous because of its remix by sonic vibe. the original was horible..

Posted by starx on Nov-01-2009 06:12:

Remember that Armin is not a DJ anymore, but a superstar. He can make whatever artists he want famous by supporting him and her. If Armin says something is the big thing, fans believe it too.

The scene has changed, Armin would never keep his no.1 position 3 years in a row a few years back.

I have no problem replying to people disagreeing with me. But i ususally spend more time on trance.nu. I dont reply on other forums aswell, cause it takes too much time to answer everyone on every forum.

about calibro, yeah original mix sucked big time, it was my first release ever which I made in 2003, but remember I\we wrote the melody too, which is what made the track special.

You obviously are making this personal arent you? You are just pathetic.

well it is you who is stating all this stuff. so i have to take it personal with you. also because you don't give other names. that does it all make it much less plausible too. but that's your own right.

as i see you indeed have no problems with replying on here too, so i take my previous statement back.

may i remind you that you still owe me a translation of a pm response you gave me?

wow

dude i have listened to a couple live mixes of armin and he does very few mixes at all....he simply cuts from one tune to the next...but he has tracks before anyone else so he can do this... i mean they can say what they want about armin or tiesto and trust me i have been one of them people that would slag them off.... the bottom line is they worked very hard to get were they are.... you dont become number one over night it takes 10-15years to get there....people often forget that.... and people seem to forget tracks like communication...precious... blue fear... we are not talking excellent tracks here we are talking tracks that were the soundtrack to the trance explosion.

i think you should delete ure post mate...imagine coming on a trance site and slagging of the only man truely standing from 99, the man the that keeps the sound alive..

The funny thing about this thread is that it is mostly people bitching about bitching.

Person A makes a huge post bashing the current "state of trance" (pun intended), Person B makes a huge post saying "WHY WOULD YOU WASTE YOUR TIME THINKING ABOUT THINGS LIKE THIS?"

People are likely to discuss the state of trance on a trance board. Is it so odd to discuss trance, here?

I understand the "if you don't like it, move on" philosophy... but, for fuck's sake, this is a discussion forum. You're all just as well to not read and reply to the topic as the original poster was to not post it.

The problem is that threads like this instigate the very "trance bashing" the "trance crackers" all complain about.
Therefore it is my belief that such threads should not be started to minimize this stupid bickering the MD is full of at the moment.

Then again, it doesn't really matter what threads are started here because elitist fgts will just use any opportunity to bash. The most recent example was the Armin teaching how to DJ thread. Now I'm no fan of him but that video was somewhat useful and not completely pointless. It did not deserve such bashing and garbage to ruin it.

I guess it wouldn't be so bad if it were just one or two threads.

I think this is more about politics than actual music. Never really cared much about it myself.

I love Armada label T - Shirts, would have definitely got one if it was free shipping.

Posted by ownymcown on Nov-02-2009 23:16:

one of the guys on the first page of this thread hit it on the head, this is about making money. trance as an underground phenomena churned out some good quality shit. as a mainstream and money making phenomena later on, it caters to the masses to sell records, or the emphasis on quantity over quality.

trance is commercial now (the majority of it). the best trance music in terms of quality right now probably is made by some guy at home in his basement somewhere, never to be discovered. the producers who have their names out there create shit to make money. armin plays/creates shit to build his name and his brand, not to develop trance music.

for the people who hate armin/tiesto/pvd/whoever for ruining trance, get a life! this is how shit works. its about the money, not about pleasing some pseudointellectual critics on tranceaddict... get it through your brains. this is just like criticizing Britney Spears for making shallow music, grow up.

if you want good new trance, you have to literally scour the internet (not beatport), or just switch to a different non-mainstream genre.

jesus i wrote way too much than i should have.

Why can't more trance djs be more like peter hook? he doesn't care about the money, he just wants to gyrate and have fun and doesnt give a damn about track selection.
